Ryan's Music Lessons (Guitar, Piano, Song Writing)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Sun Valley, CA

Years of Experience: 6 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 15 Genres: Rock, Blues, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Keyboard and Piano Lessons,Song Writing Lessons Overview: I like to focus on the personable and instinctive qualities of music with my students. Too many times does a student lose interest or lack the appropriate teacher to delve them into the music they want to learn, and I think that's a shame. A lesson plan isn't 100% what the teacher wants, nor is it 100% what the student wants. There must be a shared interest in both the teacher's and student's desires. I focus strongly on ear training and tapping into the innate musical sense that some students may not realize they have without the guidance of a mentor - that is where I come in. Formal Education: Berklee College of Music BA in Film Scoring, 2012 - private guitar piano instruction Private Education: 3 years study in classical guitar 4 years study in electric guitar 10 years study in piano (contemporary, jazz) Performing Experience: Regular bassist for Boston-based Indie band "Cowgill" (2011-2013) Weekly playing at St. Finbar Catholic Church in Burbank, CA - contemporary praise band (pianist/vocalist) Various Musical Theatre experience (on-stage) Experience Teaching: I started teaching other teenagers private guitar lessons, then quickly branched into the surrounding communities to teach kids from age 5-18 for 3 years. I continued this teaching routine throughout college, then teaching in a studio at Music Arts (national store) in Boston, MA for 2 years.

Graduating from the University of Central Florida in Music Composition, he teaches a variety of genres including classical, jazz, rock, and popular music. Some of his accomplishments include founding the Pegasus Composer Society at UCF, writing a 3 movement symphony for full orchestra, and co-creating a music theory document cataloging almost every possible scale titled "Scales Sets as Sheet Music". He began learning music at the age of 5, initially drawn towards classic rock music. He eventually studied percussion in his first two years at UCF which lead to a deep passion for classical music. After in-depth study of the music of Claude Debussy and Alexander Scriabin, he went on to study music composition. He has since composed music for a wide range of instruments including piano, full orchestra, choir, and electronic music. His original music can be heard on his growing YouTube channel titled "Jay Music", along with videos analyzing Scriabin's music. Joel's Music Lessons (Piano)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Palmdale, CA

Location Options: In Studio, In Home, In Webcam Travel Radius: 30 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Christian Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Keyboard and Piano Lessons Overview: Hey guys, I'm a pianist/keyboardist currently based out of southern California after just moving back home from spending 6 years in Boston. I remember the frustration of knowing there is more to learn in the musical word and not being happy with the answers I was given on how to approach new concepts, especially dealing with jazz, improv, and writing. But like any language learning the basics well enough to know when you no longer need them is how you truly start to express yourself and find out who you are musically. Formal Education: Just finished school at Berklee college of music with a degree in performance, focusing on playing jazz, pop, rock, accompanying singers and studio performance. Private Education: Have taken private lessons my whole life with teachers that include, Rob Mullins, Russ Ferrante, Taylor Eigsti and Allain Mallet. Performing Experience: I have been a performing pianist and keyboardist since the 8 grade, starting with being a pianist for local dance and college singing classes. Winning the West Coast Ragtime Festival in 2005 and 2006. As a high school student I had formed several jazz groups that focused on straight ahead and smooth jazz. In college I performed for many years in the New England wedding scene playing top 40 pop music an dance music, as well as spending two years on cruise ships with a top 40 band that focused on incorporating old school soul and blues into its sets. Playing for many original Berklee bands that were featured on the Jazz Revelation Record contest at Berklee as well as performing regularly for recitals around the Berklee campus and exploring the Boston and New England Music scene. And finally I'm back in California at home starting my career up again here as an adult. Experience Teaching: I have been giving private lessons since 2008, while I do teach students how to read my goal and vision for a student is not to be a robot that can only play what you put in front of them. I teach an understanding into how we use music as a language and how to understand the complex theory side, to be free in the artistic side to find who we are as musicians and what our voice is. While using songs in the style of choice of the student, I start to show them the basics of theory, rhythm, harmony, how all the little rules build off each other until you are truly speaking a new language. -Reviews- Name: Ryan Johnson Date: 2016-03-15 21:23:20 Title: Joel H Body: In my view, Joel is definitely well suited for a private music instructor position. On top of being an incredibly proficient performer, composer and improviser, he is also very capable of explaining rudimentary to advanced concepts in an easy to digest way. In my 5 years knowing and performing with Joel, we have been able to have incredibly lucid exchanges of musical ideas and concepts where I have learned a lot from his approach to piano. On top of his qualifications as a musician, Joel is also a really kind, respectful, and likable guy and I consider him a true friend. I certainly recommend him as an instructor!

Years of Experience: 8 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 40 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons Overview: What's up, my name is Justin. I'm 19 years old. I picked up a guitar when I was 11 and taught myself how to play. Every day since then I've been mastering my favorite band's songs. It started with The Beatles and then I branched out to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Metallica. About 2 years ago I began experimenting more and writing my own songs. These songs are all influenced by my favorite bands and incorporate aspects of all of them. I will teach my students how to become where I am today. I think everybody should learn how to play the guitar so they can learn to express themselves through song. I enjoy spreading the love for guitar and am very enthusiastic about teaching people! * Formal Education: I graduated high school in 2011. I am currently attending community college. Performing Experience: I've been playing improvised local shows semi-frequently for the last 2 years. Fratena's Music Lessons (Piano, Song Writing)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Chico, CA

Years of Experience: 43 Location Options: In Home Travel Radius: 20 Genres: Rock, Classical Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Keyboard and Piano Lessons,Song Writing Lessons Overview: My name is Fratena and I have been a musician since I was 6 years old. My mother saw that I had a talent and she began teaching me and then I was sent to a private music teacher who trainedme in the classical music. I would play piano at my elementary school, and became playing the flute, violin and drums in high school. I went on to college with scholarship in music to California State University of Los Angeles. But, all of sudden my interest changed and I became acertified baker after training, and opened a bakery that was successful for about 7 years. But, I always would play the piano. Even if it was for myself. I began writing and composing music by age 14 and had music copywritten. I taught piano for about 4 years and had 12 students a month. I got married and moved away and then had a baby about 15 years ago. Now my daughter is 15 years old. I love to teach children music; they bring a freshness of learning. I have helped young men start rock bands, and we have traveled to entertain children in concerts from Fresno, Ca to Redding Ca. I have lead music bands in churches and weddings. Schools nowadays don't teach the children the basic of music, such as time signature, scales...etc... That is too bad! Music is the essence of your soul. The light of love and peace. Recently I won song of the year runner up VH-1 for a song that I wrote composed called Calm Anxiety. I am going to Ireland in March of 2011 to do a charity cd for Irish Lebanon Project. I have a cd that willbe releasedin February 2011. * Formal Education: Blair High School in Pasadena, Ca Majored English and Music California State University of Los Angeles 4 years Major Music UCLA certified Professional Baker Private Education: Private piano lesson with Ms Bason Private piano lesson with Jazz musician Moe Santos Performing Experience: I have performed at many churches throughtout Northern California. I will be performing in Ireland next year Feb 2011 for a charity concert. I will be doing a christmas concert this year at the JC with a band. Experience Teaching: I have been teaching music for about 8 years. I started in 1990 to 1994. I got married in 1994 and had a daughter in 1995. I started teaching children and adults how to start a band and basic rhythm techiques in 2001. I was patient enough to teach ADHD children music and how to stay focus on what notes or chords they were reading and what they feel. I started an all boys band of teens with purple hair and piercings and nose rings and yet they still play music to this day. I started band with ADHD children and adults as well.
