Raised on Chicago's West side, Franklin's family encouraged the development of his innate musical talents. As soon as Prince Franklin could crawl he was banging on pots and pans, and by age 5, he was seated on a Ludwig drum kit given to him by his Father and Grandfather. This began a childhood filled with music. In 1999, Franklin left Chicago behind for his first professional gig, as percussionist for the Las Vegas jazz pianist, Ghallib Ghalab. A year later, I had the opportunity to record my first demo in New York City. I wanted to continue learning more and more about the guitar and once I realized it was something I could study in college my decision to pursue a music degree was made. I soon graduated with a Bachelor's in Jazz Guitar Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma. I had the opportunity to teach lessons for J. Rogers and Allegro Performing Arts Studios, and also privately during my undergraduate studies. I performed jazz with various ensembles in school, at local venues, and at private events in Oklahoma City.
