Formal Education: John began his college music studies at AM University in Kingsville before transferring to The University of Texas at San Antonio. He went on to complete his MBA in Music Education at The University of Texas RGV. Private Education: John was a world champion by the time he was 16 years of age, as a member of the Lone Star Drum and Bugle Corps Drumline in 1994. This experience allowed him to study extensively with some of the finest educators in the marching arts activity. Performing Experience: John began playing live at 8 years of age and has not slowed down since. At 39 years of age, he has performed with hundreds of live and studio musicians in a wide variety of genres. Experience Teaching: John is now completing his 14th year teaching as the Director of Percussion Studies/Assistant Band Director at W.C. Akins High School in Austin, TX.
