About Shayla

I like working with kids because I like getting to watch them discover the world, and see their personalities develop. I love their joy over things that I've learned to see as mundane. I like being a source of comfort when they're dealing with difficult emotions. I like when they're a bit older and start to engage with the world around them and helping them learn them how things work and what we can do to take care of our selves and our community. I like seeing all the little things they're proud of and watching those accomplishments get bigger and bigger. Ideally, I'd like a job that is close to full-time and semi-permanent for the foreseeable future. I'm also open to something more part-time with potential for a more full-time position in the future. If it's a good fit, I'm can be pretty flexible about hours. I prefer working with younger kids (under 8) but I'm also comfortable with older kids and siblings. I'm also familiar with special-needs children, and enjoy working with them.
