For almost 3 years I thought Spanish to kids from 3 years old to 11 years old.
Also trough-out the 15 years I have as a Child Care I thought Spanish as well, it wouldn't be a Spanish class but during the time I was with them I would talk in Spanish on and off as part of the job.
I would start with a few phrases and words they understand, and build from there. Always recycle and review what they know!
When introducing new words, have real objects or visuals on hand to point to, so the kids understand you. After a while, they won't need the supports.
Provide the language in many different contexts: in a song, make up a little story, crafts, play a game using those words. Repetition is key if they're going to remember it!
I, also would include exercises routines for the kids before we would start the class everything in Spanish since it is more visual kids loved that so much!
I didn't study to teach Spanish but I have the experience teaching the kids now for years.
