Educated Babysitter/Caregiver Available For Both The Typically-Developing And Delayed Populations
Greetings! My name is Jasmin, and I am a multilingual speech-language pathologist. I received my B. A. in Human Development (with an emphasis on Education Studies and Language/Literacy development), and also hold a Master's Certificate for Communication Disorders.
Because of my occupational and academic experiences, I am very familiar with children's development in the following areas: cognition, motor/sensory, speech, and language. I provide quality care to children by teaching and challenging them to develop in the mentioned areas. I am patient, caring, and sensitive towards young children's needs.
I speak Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and have basic knowledge of American Sign Language (which I typically use for prompting purposes during therapy).
I have worked with typically developing children, as well as children with special needs, including severe- to high-functioning children on the autism spectrum, and children with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, receptive-expressive language disorder, articulation/phonological disorders, and those with hearing impairments.
Brief list of my relevant positions and experiences:
*Speech & language graduate clinician with experience conducting full speech/language evaluations (to children with varying communicative impairments and levels of severity) and provided individualized therapy in English, Mandarin, and Spanish.
*Caregiver for medically-fragile infant, to whom I also provided language/cognitive stimulation.
*Behavior Therapist for children on the autism spectrum by utilizing multiple ABA-based teaching strategies.
*Mandarin teacher for native and non-native children, typically with a focus on conversational Mandarin in a functional and communicative manner. Created and implemented curricula and materials to fit individual needs.
*Reading and literacy specialist for K-2nd grade children. Helped them develop stronger literacy skills and phonological awareness through interactive games, reading, and collaborative activities.
*Literacy specialist for children with dyslexia; designed and implemented an academic readiness curriculum to best suit their needs. Introduced activities geared towards improving fine motor skills, literacy development, phonological awareness, as well as arithmetic skills.
*Teacher assistant for a Mandarin immersion program at a private international school in Palo Alto.
