Margaret B.|Zuni, VA
48 yrs old
I'm the mother of five children ranging from 13-24 years old and have also assisted with my grandmothers in their later years/passing. I'm a dedicated and focused bookkeeper by profession with 17 years of experience and a Liberal Arts Associate Degree. During my tenures, my work has incorporated all aspects of accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable/collections, payroll/taxes, financial reports, general ledger, etc. What sets me apart is that my first 12 years of experience were gained in me and my husband's cleaning/smoke and water restoration franchise. I carried the management of the front office, finances, and human resources while my husband led the operational and technical side of the business. I learned many skills from this experience like exceptional customer service, extreme attention to detail, and solid financial principles. During the ownership of this franchise, I also performed financial responsibilities for me and my husband's two limited liability companies. As the financial administrator of a private school for the next five years, I performed the same accounting practices I'd applied in the franchise and much more. Because of the small size of the school, there was not a human resources department, so I functioned in that capacity as well. I spearheaded the compiling of documents for Federal Form 1023 which allowed the school to become a non-profit corporation. I was involved in several software changes in an effort to enable parents to access student data from the internet as well as financial software changes to switch from a cash basis to accrual basis. This past year at the long term/rehabilitative care facility I focused on human resources. I was able to pull from my previous years of experience with benefits, payroll, staff altercations, employee files, etc. I would be a great asset to a company because of my efficiency, confidentiality, and commitment. I will be a valuable asset to your team.
