About who needs care: Mema has been in a nursing home/rehab center and was discharged for home. She lives in the country outside of Bonifay, FL; however, I live 1. 5 hours away in Donalsonville, GA where I care for my disabled parents and have two small children of my own. Mema was not even home for 24 hours before her husband (who has cancer and has to leave her alone to go to treatments) had to call an ambulance because she fell in the bathroom. She has a wheelchair, a walker with a seat, a bath chair, and will be getting a potty chair this upcoming week. My parents, as mentioned previously, are disabled. My Mama (Mema's daughter) is in need of surgery this summer while my Deddy is currently undergoing radiation to treat his prostate cancer. She sits on the couch covered up all day and can barely hear unless you talk rather loudly. Both Mema and her husband shake terribly, and we're afraid he is going to try to lift her onto the toilet and both fall. They live alone; can someone please help?!
About the care needs: The ideal caregiver would be patient, able to lift Mema without hurting her fragile skin, cook, clean, and communicate effectively with us as her family. She also loves to read or be read to, watch older funny movies, and pray.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
