Adventures In Learning: Yes I Am A Licensed Provider, But My Home Is More Like A "Nanny Share"
I have 25+ years experience as a Washington State Licensed In Home Daycare.
I have 2 kids of my own, and my youngest is 32 years old. He was special education in special circumstances: ADD, ADHD, defiance disorder, severe Asthma, difficult home life, transition and adjustment difficulties, speech or learning impairment, and recent traumatic experience. I have taken my annual recurring education courses in a timely manner and have maintained my license and education hours. I have been certified for the Merritt program as well as the USDA food program and only serve meals based on their food guidelines with the exception of allergies and strong dislikes. I am CPR and First Aid certified. I develop individual learning paths with the parents.
My home is best described as Montessori learning style with a grandma's house feel. I am not a large center and I don't feel children get the emotional development they need under the age of 5, when they are 1 of 15 in a class room.
I take pride in the fact that most of my kids stay with my care until they move away or are too old to go to daycare, and even then, they still come to visit after they have moved on. I often have people return to my daycare, for me to care for their new additions of baby sister or brother.
I put a great deal of effort into the toys and educational games I provide and I rotate them frequently, so the children never get bored or are cheated of the opportunity to grow and learn.
I think it is important to teach children to highlight their uniqueness as well as their individual strengths and successes. I also think life skills are important as well, such as: Nutrition, planning a grocery shopping list, cleaning up after themselves, teaching the value of earning and self-reward choices. .
Please call me for any questions and to set up an appointment to meet me as well as see my home and how your little learner will fit in and enjoy their learning time, and adventures, while you are away. Thank you Ms. Wanda.
