My name is Amelia and I have been a retirement home volunteer at Wesley Manor Retirement Community since my freshman year in college at the University of Southern Mississippi. In my experience, I have observed that having a young and energetic companion is very beneficial to the overall well being of the elderly. My experience includes transportation to and from social events, assistance grocery shopping, providing companionship, housekeeping, and some cooking. I have always had a spot in my heart for the elderly, and I feel that though the elderly have so much to offer, they are so easily forgotten. As a Southern Caretaker, I value and embody respect for the elderly.
