I'm looking for a great nanny for 1 child. Some light tidying up would be part of our caregiver's responsibilities. Please be comfortable with pets. Duties include pickups and drop-offs. Some help preparing meals would be ideal. I am a full-time teacher. I'm also getting my Masters in Ed-Sec Science. I need someone from May 24 through June 14, Mon through Friday, and possibly some evenings/ afternoons over summer for my own courses. There may be mornings that I leave her "incentive work", such as sight words to spell, and basic additions or subtractions pictographs. I am not the best at keeping a clean house myself- my main idea is, if she takes something out, she needs to put it back. I am currently trying to come up with a better system for that. Likewise, if you two make a mess, I'd just like for all dirty dishes to be in sink or dishwasher, for any floor spills to be sopped up right away, and any large messes swept or vacuumed right away. Get her to help- I'm big in the "If we make a mess, we don't expect someone else to clean it up." She is really curious. I usually try to ask what she thinks, answer scientific questions with scientific fact, or ask if we can look up the answer. She may get frustrated. Remind her to take deep breaths. If she throws a tantrum, then she can do so in her own room. I don't say "time out" as a punishment, but I do ask if she needs to go to her room to calm down before we talk. She doesn't get to throw a fuss around the house, but her emotions are valid, and she has space for them. In the end, between keeping up with her or cleaning, she is number one. She may want to go out to play with neighbors- that's fine, as long as you go with her and watch her.
