Child care
RoC CDC believes every child is an individual and deserves an individualized educational plan to meet their developmental goals. Our center was created to serve the needs and interests of the children in mixed-age groups and at different stages of development. We ask ourselves what the children in our care need, what their families value, and how the community would benefit. We focus on learning through long-term exploratory projects and the care of the whole child. Physical development, social interactions, emotional balance, and cognitive needs are all equally important in the life of a child. Critical thinking Social awareness Social development Artistic growth Scientific investigation Communication skills Pre-literacy skills Mathematics Creativity ON-SITE SERVICES Your child can benefit from a variety of inclusive services through coordinated care on site. United Hearts Community School blends the Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Waldorf approaches into a single preschool class to create a rich and holistic learning environment for children. Each of these approaches has unique principles and methodologies, by using careful planning and adaptation, we incorporate elements from all three approaches. The framework to blending these approaches: Child-Centered Learning Environment: Create a warm and inviting classroom that reflects the aesthetics and natural elements emphasized in Waldorf. Incorporate Montessori's prepared environment with carefully organized learning materials accessible to children, encouraging independent exploration. Integrate Reggio Emilia's focus on using open-ended materials and natural resources to promote creativity and imagination. Emergent Curriculum: Reggio Emilia's approach to emergent curriculum, where the interests and ideas of the children guide the learning experiences. Encourage child-led exploration and discovery, allowing Montessori's self-directed learning to take place within the emergent curriculum framework. Incorporate elements of Waldorf's seasonal and nature-based curriculum, weaving in activities and projects related to the natural world. Multi-Sensory Experiences: Integrate Montessori's emphasis on hands-on learning materials that engage multiple senses, allowing children to actively explore concepts through touch, sight, and sound. Incorporate Reggio Emilia's focus on the arts, providing various art mediums, music, and movement activities to foster self-expression and creativity. Incorporate Waldorf's appreciation for storytelling, and dramatic play, allowing children to engage in imaginative and sensory-rich experiences. Teacher's Role: Emphasize the importance of the teacher as a facilitator and guide, drawing from the Montessori approach. Encourage observation and documentation of children's learning, following the Reggio Emilia tradition, to assess individual progress and inform future activities. Foster a nurturing and holistic approach inspired by Waldorf, incorporating elements of rhythm, routine, and fostering a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world. Parent Involvement: Embrace the Reggio Emilia approach of involving parents as partners in their child's education, encouraging their active participation in the learning process.

I am now a licensed home childcare provider! My husband and I recently had a beautiful baby girl. She is now 9 months old. I have been working as a Shelter/community advocate for survivors of domestic violence for the last 3 1/2 years. I absolutely loved my job, my co-workers, my clients and the work that I did however, I moved to Colorado Springs back in July and my daughter arrived in November. I was driving a total of three hours to and from work. I set up daycare for my daughter but as it was getting closer and closer to actually putting her in daycare and heading off to work it started laying heavy on my heart that I would be away from her for so many hours in a day. I have been greatly concerned that she would be in a daycare center where there is one person watching multiple other children and my daughter would not be getting the attention she deserves or be loved like her family loves her. Furthermore, whether she is in daycare for 1 day or 5 days a week it would cost me no less than $1000 month. Therefore, I had decided to put my resignation in at my job and work from home while my daughter is so young. I decided that providing daycare in my home would be an alternative to taking an outside job and it would be something that I would enjoy doing and be good at; especially since I was a nanny for four years. I decided that if I was going to do daycare, I would provide a better alternative for people than what I found available to me. I am looking to take in a few children 3-4 days a week. This would provide my family with the financial security we need as well as offer more affordable childcare for another family in a safe and loving environment. MY BACKGROUND In addition to a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in criminal justice and criminology, I have worked with young children as a professional nanny prior to being a victims advocate. I worked for a family for 3 1/2 years which I took care of 3 beautiful children. This position had allowed me to listen to the needs of the children I care for, then come up with creative ways to manage their situations to the satisfaction of all: the kids, myself, and the parents. This is something I am very good at. These experiences have helped me to develop excellent communication skills, assist with emotional regulation and ensure safe and secure settings.

At Umniya Home Care we believe in nourishing every child s mind, body, and spirit. The approach is one of holistic care that focuses on mental stimulation, sensory engagement, physical activity, and nourishing the body with healthy snacks. Our safe learning environment provides personalized care in a mixed-age setting, allowing children to socialize in one-on-one and group settings. Our creative curriculum and low teacher-student ratio are integral to each child s journey of self-discovery. We focus on three tenants 1) mixed age approach 2) play based learning 3) attention to emotional growth. You can read more about the philosophy on our website. The program runs from 6:30AM - 6:30 PM. Please don't hesitate to contact the director, Suhair at umniyahomecare@gmail.com with any questions about the program. Creative curriculum Low teacher-student ratio Developmentally based Daily musical circle Cultural diversity Conflict resolution Parent conferences Healthy snacks Field trips State licensed Parent involvement welcomed Mixed-Age Home Care Program: In our philosophy, all children benefit from a mixed age environment. The younger children learn by watching the older children - and the older children learn to engage in healthy play with those who are younger than them. For example, a two-year who observes healthy sharing and conflict resolution between three year olds, in time, will begin mimic these skills. A four year old will begin to exhibit natural leadership skills based on the fact that they will have internalized the rules, memorized the lyrics, and understood that her/his unique participation is integral to the functioning of the group. Play Based Learning: Research shows that play based learning can put your child ahead in life. This is because play based learning takes advantage of children's natural inclination to play. Children learn relevant life skills in a fun and playful environment in which they are encouraged to explore, experiment and problem solve. Attention to Emotional Growth It is not atypical for a young child to feel overwhelmed and anxious in attending a new day care or preschool. This is particularly the case for those who have spent most of their time at home with a parent. We aim to nurture your child through this transition with patience and deep nurturing. Over time, the child will grow to trust her/his teachers and will naturally find their own comfortable social niche. It is integral for each
