Pleasant Times Learning Center is a licensed child care provider in Winthrop, MA, and has been servicing the community since 1993. We provide quality child care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Our program is unlike any other. Our philosophy is to create an environment that encourages children to explore themselves and the world around them. We help each child reach developmental milestones through hands on activities, planned curriculum (reading, writing, math, science, etc.), and outside play. It's not about the final product that the child creates, we believe it's about the process the child takes to get there! Our children have so much fun each day they don't even realize they're learning!

The staff at Pleasant Times is absolutely one of a kind! We have staff members that have been with the program for 20+ years! Each staff member undergoes professional training's in order to make sure the concepts of child development are understood. We use this training to create an environment that's exciting and inviting, while provoking curiosity in each child.

Pleasant Times uses an app that can be downloaded to any smart phone. Once logged in, you can follow your child's day, send messages, and even see pictures! This is a great way to stay connected to your child as well as the staff and director.

We currently have limited spots available in our infant, toddler and preschool classrooms. Give us a call today at 617-846-5813 to set up a tour. We look forward to meeting you!

My daughters, 4 & 2, have been attending since they were infants and LOVE coming here. The owner Andrea and the staff are amazing. I have always felt good knowing that my children are with such caring, educated people while I'm working. Not to mention the girls have learned so much with them! I cannot recommend this facility more!

We love Tartts and were sad to leave. The teachers and staff were great--they were so caring and loving towards my son. He started at Tartts at 3.5 months old and the teachers were so helpful in getting him adjusted to daycare and even with starting on a bottle. They made me feel comfortable when coming back to work and were great at communicating with us where needed. We eventually had to leave because the location/commute was inconvenient, but both we and the teachers were sad when we parted. Thanks to Wanda, Ken and the teachers at Tartts!

My program is a small, mixed-age group, and we all become very attached to each other--it really is very much like a family. I am located in Boston, close to the Longwood Medical Area. I have a well-equipped home with three levels of interesting space and a small backyard. We also have a wagon-for-six for trips around the neighborhood, and a minivan filled with car seats (and with a triple stroller folded up in back) for field trips to the zoo, the science museum, and other cool places around Boston. The mixed-age grouping contributes to a cooperative rather than a competitive environment--it's the norm to have a different skill level, since children are different ages, and your friends will just naturally offer to help if you don't know how to do something.

The curriculum is child-centered and play-based, by which I mean that I guide activities mostly by preparing the environment and selecting the playthings. Then I let the children engage in play and discovery. I'm here to model appropriate behavior, set limits, read books, add or subtract materials, keep everybody clean, fed, safe, and loved, and generally keep things moving smoothly. We have a wonderful time!

I have three major goals for the children in my group: positive self-concept, social skills, and language skills. If you are confident and excited about your world and your ideas, know how to make and keep friends, and communicate well, you are well on your way to academic and personal success.

I am licensed for six children, but prefer to have a group of four or five per day, depending on the ages of the children. I sometimes do have six children, when alumni come to visit or when I simply can't work out the schedule any other way. Children typically start the program at age one and continue until age four or five.

I try to provide everything so that parents don't have to pack a huge bag each day. Food, diapers, and field trip expenses are all included in the daily rate--there are no extra charges. I serve a ovo-lacto vegetarian menu. There are lots of pets--turtle, geckos, fish--which provide a wonderful anchor for the science curriculum, since they all need different food and different environments. We also do things like hatching chicken eggs, planting seeds, making collections of pine cones and other natural objects. A dog and two cats live in the house, and petting and playing with them contribute a lot of comfort and interest.

An amazing place. We joined over 2 years ago. Our son is now in the preschool class and our daughter in the toddler class. They both love it, were heart broken by the COVID recess and joyful to return. Diki is a daycare with a warm and family like atmosphere. The owner Chhimi is very communicative and caring and very accommodative with our children's needs. The personal attention our children get from the staff is unlike anything we experienced in other daycare centers and we are grateful for it. On the whole, the teachers are caring and compassionate, the activities are thoughtful and creative, the place is spacious, very pleasant and well equipped and the atmosphere is of tolerance and acceptance. We are kept well informed about the children's day and it is clear that our children are well cared of, well fed, clean and happy. We recommend it wholeheartedly.

To anyone considering sending their children to Sunkissed Acorns: Both my girls attended Sunkissed Acorns from 3 months of age until pre-K and we couldn't possibly recommend them enough. Mabel, Carla, Kelly, Mancy, Ping, and the whole staff at Sunkissed Acorns are incredibly warm, caring, and thoughtful people. In the early days, they helped kids (and us parents) adjust to the daycare drop-off routine and progress through the rapidly advancing developmental phases. Whether it was letting us know when to get bigger diapers, help introducing foods, or reinforcing potty training they were with us every step of the way. In the later years, they taught our girls excellent socialization skills like how to play in groups, manage their belongings, and clean up their messes. On the academics side, they taught our girls letters, numbers, arts, science, and even a bit of Chinese! When COVID-19 took us all by surprise they were temporarily closed like many others, but their communication was clear and consistent throughout. As soon as things were ready to open back up, they implemented thoughtful procedures to maximize hygiene and minimize risk to families and staff. In summary, we absolutely recommend Sunkissed Acorns to any families looking for a safe, diverse, and enriching early education environment.
