Fun-Loving Nanny (Who Also Speaks Japanese) For Infant - 4 Years Old — San Francisco, CA
Hello! My name is Michiko and I currently take care of two children in a full-time share care situation. Both kiddies started when they were 10 months old, and I can hardly believe that they are 3 years old now! As both children have been accepted into preschools starting this September, I am now looking for a full-time nanny position starting as early as 8/31/15. Having been educated in both the U. S. and Japan, my bi-cultural upbringing has resulted in being completely bilingual. Though I worked in finance for most of my career, it wasn't until I got laid off from a well-known investment firm, that I realized how important it is to pursue what is truly authentic to myself. Being the oldest of four, caring for my younger siblings became a lifestyle that involved responsibility from early on, but one that I enjoyed. Perhaps it is because of this, friends and clients tell me I'm a natural with children. What distinguishes me from other caregivers is that I can utilize both Japanese and English through play and daily activities. I am an energetic and happy person, because any child can bring that out in me. The following is a list of the things I have done/do according to the child's age. Infant - 1 years old: I can sleep train a baby in 2 days. I am a very patient person, and can recognize the various cries of a baby. Whether they are hungry, need a diaper change, are uncomfortable for some reason, or just want to be held, it is their only way of communication. I never introduce solids unless the parents have done so first. This is to prevent any kind of allergic reaction the child may have. On sunny days, I take them on long walks in the stroller/Bjorn, and like to expose them to other babies in the park (if they are not sick). Toddler - 4 years old: I do not like to expose them to TV or videos, as I strongly believe that it is important for them to be as physically active as possible. With the parents' permission, this is when I introduce them to commands and music in Japanese. It is subliminal learning. I can get them on a routine where their naps won't interfere with their nighttime sleep. I like to stimulate their minds through music, reading, drawing, outdoor activities, playgroups, etc. (I know the the Muni bus/train systems, Botanical Garden, Academy of Science and the spectacular Golden Gate Park like the back of my hand). I can also potty-train any child in a week, where I turn the bathroom into a fun library. I am mindful of teaching children how to be good respectful people, so I do not shy away from disciplining them from time-to-time. This way kids know that I am their friend and can be trusted. Please feel free to contact me here, and I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Michiko
