Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

Designed for students ages 10 to 12, the Expanded Fundamentals program bridges the gap between Fine Art Fundamentals and Advanced Exploration. It builds on foundational techniques while offering more opportunities for independent decision-making. Prior completion of Fine Art Fundamentals isn’t required, but familiarity with basic art concepts is recommended. All students new to Expanded Fundamentals will receive a notification to sign up for a one-time, prerequisite Online Form Class, which must be completed by the third week. This class teaches students about form, values and composition. If your child has already completed this class as part of Fine Art Fundamentals, they do not need to take it again. Through hands-on lessons, students will learn how to navigate the interface, use brushes and tools, and apply digital techniques to create original artworks. The course is designed to build a strong foundation for students interested in developing their digital art practice and a small class size means kids will get plenty of personalized instruction and one-on-one support. What to Bring to Class: iPad (9th generation or newer recommended for best performance) Apple Pencil Charger Because this program is offered on a limited basis, make-up classes are not available. Join us this Spring for an exciting Spanish adventure! This season, Brilliant Bilingual presents our new theme, “Detectives en Acción” (Detectives in Action). Students will step into the role of young detectives, using Spanish to follow clues, describe people and places, and solve a mystery—all while gaining a glimpse into the vibrant culture and life of Mexico. Open to K–5 students of all proficiency levels, the Spanish Club makes learning come alive through fun games, interactive projects, and creative storytelling. As our detectives piece together the clues, they’ll naturally build vocabulary for colors, clothing, physical features, and more. At the end of the session, students will showcase what they’ve learned in a fun presentation revealing their final discovery! Brilliant Bilingual reserves the right to remove students from the club without refunding payment in the event of repeated misbehavior. Tardy Policy ---- Spanish Club ends at 4:45pm. Parents who pick their students up directly after Spanish Club must be ready to pick them up at 4:45pm. Any parent or responsible caregiver who does not pick up their student by 5:00 pm will be charged a late fee of $1/minute. Late fees will automatically be applied to the card placed on file at the time of registration. School Closure Policy ---- Brilliant Bilingual clubs may close/cancel clubs due to certain circumstances (Extreme Weather Conditions, Natural Disasters, Infrastructure Problems). Parents/guardians will be informed via SMS or mobile notifications and email announcements. Through gesture, anatomy, and form studies, young artists learn to see the body from different perspectives and build the skills to create more natural, realistic figures. In some sessions, students will also have the exciting opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) model, gaining first-hand experience in observing the proportions and presence of an actual person. The class fee includes the cost of a vetted, guild-booked professional model. Some handouts may include artistic references of the unclothed figure for study purposes. All materials will be provided.

It’s Sculpture Week—hooray! We’re so excited for this hands-on, wonderfully messy week of creativity. Campers should come dressed for a mess and ready with patience as we design, build, and sculpt our pets—or the pets we wish we had! Using clay, papier-mâché, and plaster, we’ll spend the week bringing their creations to life as they work toward a magical finished piece. Campers will also have the chance to create extra accessories for their pets, including homes, collars, leashes, and even tiny crowns. It’s a week full of imagination, sculpting, and so much fun!​
