Kirk's Music Lessons (Guitar)
by Taylor Robinson Music
Frisco, TX
Years of Experience: 25 Location Options: In Studio Genres: Rock, Blues, Country Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Bass Guitar Lessons Overview: Hello – the following is an overview of my decades of musical experience and (hopefully) qualifications to instruct others that would like to learn from my experience. I am the son of a professional musician/ music educator. I have been around music my entire life and have been participating, in one form or another, as far back as I can remember. I took piano lessons from age 6-10. Subsequently, I joined the school orchestra, taking up the string bass. Since I was the only bassist in the school, I immediately began playing with the more advanced orchestra students. I played in the high school orchestra for two years even though my attention and allegiance was transferring from string bass to bass guitar. As soon as I began playing bass guitar, I started learning my favorite rock and pop songs and acquiring and developing my own tastes and affinities. I jammed with anybody else I could find that played anything ( primarily guitarists and drummers, of course) and also began to accompany the teen choir at our church. I continued playing string bass through 10th grade as well and participated in all school orchestra functions along with many church and community functions. I was given the opportunity to join the local symphony for a couple of performances (once on string bass and once on bass guitar, for a “pops” concert). I played bass guitar one year in the school jazz band. I played in a couple of high school bands, doing the usual sock hops, “battle of the bands”, and school dances, etc. I have also played a couple of school musicals on a “for hire” basis. After high school I joined a local country rock band and played regularly with them for a couple of years – the usual array of wedding receptions, local festivals, bars, private parties, etc. After that band was disbanded by the leader, I moved to South Carolina to play in a Top 40 “road band” and played various clubs and hotel lounges throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. Private Education: completed audio engineering course at Dallas Sound Lab -Reviews- Name: Anonymous Date: 2015-05-29 21:50:23 Title: Outstanding instructor Body: Kirk has a great understanding of music, and he also has the ability to teach so that you can master it as well. You'll be playing your favorite songs quickly, but you'll also be learning how and why the music works. You'll be empowered to tackle new music on your own, and also to have a great teacher to keep you sharp with technique and new ideas!
