WEST-AFRICAN Captured for their agricultural and construction skills, their work created the Louisiana colony and influenced all segments of the newly-forming Creole culture, best seen today in language, cuisine, music, family-centered traditions, architecture and life-style. This sugarcane plantation started in 1805 with 7 enslaved people (six west-Africans and one Amerindian). As the plantation grew, so did the number of enslaved workers. Four original slave cabins built in the 1840s remain standing today on the plantation. By the onset of the Civil War, 186 workers were enslaved on this farm. Following the emancipation of slaves in Louisiana (1866), the great majority of these former slaves continued to live in the Laura Plantation quarters. Descendants of these men & women were displaced in 1895 when cypress lumber companies had their own workers inhabit the Laura slave quarters. The cabins were lived in until 1977. Descendants of slaves live near the Laura Plantation to this day.

New Orleans neighborhoods are unique and all offer a special look at Louisiana history. The tour begins with the Creole quarters. In these neighborhoods (the Old Square, Faubourg Tremé, Fauboug Marigny, etc.) French and Creole were the dominant languages until the 1950s. The tour ends in American neighborhoods (Lakeview, Carrolton, Garden District, etc.) founded in the early 19th century. The presentation of each corner of the city is dotted with anecdotes about the famous characters who once lived in the City of Creoles. This minibus tour offers you an overview of the history of the area. The minibus stops several times more so that participants can get off to take pictures or simply see more closely the sights and monuments visited. A stop is at Café Morning Call where you can taste the best donuts in New Orleans! It is a highlight of the visit for the children!

Have you ever wanted to enjoy an enchanting boat ride across a swamp? If your answer is yes, as it probably is, then the place to go is New Orleans via our guided swamp tours. We take you across all the heavenly Cajun Swamp where you take a 90 minutes low-speed boat ride. The Cajun Captains will navigate their way through the back swamp. You will learn about Louisiana Wetlands, the inhabitants of the swamp, the life and habits of the American Alligators. Our experience Captains will take you back to the history of Louisiana Bayou and Swamp exploration days.

From burial customs and traditions- to the history of the Masons and Catholics in New Orleans- to the deaths of the thousands buried in the graveyard behind the Katrina Memorial, this tour will leave you with feelings of trepidation and excitement, as well as with a reverence for our city’s incredible history. This is a narrated 1.5 to 2 hour walking tour. You may bring your own beverages!

Experience America's oldest & most mysterious living city from the perspective of a local with this walking tour of the French Quarter. Hear about the secrets lurking in numerous alleys named after past sinners and saints.
