Local award-winning author and historian Sally Asher will take you on a tour of a famous New Orleans cemetery that she wrote about her in book "Stories from the St. Louis Cemeteries of New Orleans." On this walking tour, you'll learn about burial practices, types of tombs, and visit the graves of some of the city's notable (and notorious) citizens including the hunchbacked photographer who secretly photographed prostitutes, the woman behind the quirky castle, the famed architect whose ship went down with over a 100 prostitutes and circus performers, and legendary chefs who collectively advanced the Civil Rights movement, restored horse racing in the city, and (for better or worse) introduced the turducken to the U.S. The tour takes an 1:15 and is under a mile. Sally is passionate about revealing New Orleans' unusual, outrageous, and untold stories, believing history isn’t about merely listing dates and facts, but the gentle collision of truth and narrative – scandals and all!

This fast-paced tour is ideal if you are short on time and want to see as much of the city as possible, or if you have taken several longer tours and just wish to see the highlights of the Garden District. It's a fast-paced fun excursion through this unique and historic neighborhood. It is a very visual tour, with less focus on storytelling or history, but your guide will give you a brief rundown of the history and point out architectural elements. We cover all the most impressive homes in the Garden District and include a stop at Lafayette Cemetery #1. The cemetery is closed, but the gates are wide enough to see in and get some great pictures!

The Mardi Gras School of Cooking does small, intimate hands-on classes in the French Quarter. Classes are more like a dinner party with friends. Feel welcomed into our kitchens by the Chefs themselves. From the moment you arrive until you roll out the door our Chefs are friendly, personable and entertaining. Not to mention their culinary skills are impeccable. Our minimum class size is 2 people. A solo traveler may join an already scheduled class. Call us to hear about the available classes. We then follow the trail of one of the oldest roads in the US - Bayou Road, the very reason New Orleans exists. Located on the West bank of the Mississippi in the heart of Plantation Country – the main house dates from 1805 and has been restored to the time when it functioned as both a family home and the office for the sugar plantation. Visit the raised basement and galleries, men's and women's parlors, service rooms and common rooms. Walk through the 200-year-old sugar plantation homestead, including 3 gardens: Jardin Français, the kitchen potager & BananaLand grove. Continue the tour on the grounds with 12 buildings on the National Register, including animal barns, overseers' cottages and the 1829 Maison de Reprise. The Court of Two Sisters' Buffet Brunch boasts is a sumptuous display of hot and cold dishes. They use only the freshest ingredients so the buffet's selections change according to season and time of day. In the morning, a typical selection of hot dishes includes made-to-order omelets, ham, sausage and bacon, grits and grillades, and Gumbo. The afternoon's sampling includes Creole jambalaya, turtle soup, pork ribs, duck a l'Orange, fried catfish, and shrimp etouffee amongst many others.
