Activites, Camps and After School Classes in Houston, TX

Join us this summer as we celebrate Houston’s diverse culinary heritage! We’ll explore the flavors of Latin America, Asia, African Diaspora and Europe and learn professional chef approaches to blending ideas and making dishes our own. You’ll prepare a snack and complete lunch each day and conclude the week with your own take on Houston Fusion.

3-day skill development camp for high school and middle school players to develop players and improve their decision making. More than other traditional basketball camps, this camp will teach you with the drills and skills to continue your development beyond your time at camp. Quick decision making drills will be used to build the ideal camp learning environment. You will learn by doing. We will teach you to consistently and deliberately work to improve your performance.

Drop in for some extra fun! You and your enrolled child(ren) can enjoy additional opportunities to explore the Play equipment and socialize with friends at the location your child(ren) are members of. We welcome all children, at all levels of development! Come explore our playscapes, for some unguided play time. Spend quality time with them doing what they love to do, and mostly run out some energy!

CAMP DETAILS -July 28-Aug 1 -ages 6.5-11 YEARS OLD (entering 1st-6th) -9am-2pm (bring snack, lunch, & water bottle) -Theme: Wicked -Friday performance at 1pm -Location: Chapelwood UMC (11140 Greenbay St. Houston, TX 77024) -Dress code: comfy clothes for dancing and playing, closed toed sneakers ABOUT THE CAMP: -Campers take daily dance, singing, and acting class -Campers audition and rehearse a musical theater show throughout the week -Daily craft time and games -Every student gets the opportunity to have a singing solo and acting line in the show! -Performance on Friday for family and friends  -Students with and without disabilities welcomed! NOTE ABOUT INCLUSION/TEACHER AIDS: Students should participate independently for most of the camp activities. Volunteers and teachers will be present to assist when needed! Camps are staffed with 1 lead teacher, 1 assistant teachers, and 1-2 volunteers per 12 campers. Maximum of ~12 students in this age bracket. We do not have a nurse on staff. We are not certified to administer prescription medication. All students MUST be able to use the restroom by themselves. Preschool Prep is a toddler's first step to preschool! This class lets parents and children play together, explore, and practice all the skills they'll need for their school days ahead. Practice a gentle separation time during class, where teachers lead children in a short social time without their parents. Preschool Prep with HOMER is a NEW Academic Class for Ages 2-3! Children will learn early literacy, math, independence, and social skills. This is an early learning program designed for children ages 2 through 6. Preschool Prep is a transitional class for 2- to 3-year-olds that uses children's interests to help build both knowledge and foundational skills. Another special element of this program is its easy extension from classroom to home, as we provide at-home parent tips and HOMER app suggestions to encourage learning outside of class time.

Be inspired together and make colorful memories in the Gymboree Art Studio. Sculpt with a giant block of clay, design a family tree, paint a mural or make a creation of your very own. Art classes are suitable for children ages 18 months - 5 years.

It’s all about opposites! Loud and quiet, fast and slow, up and down! Contrasting ‘themes’ means your child is learning better ways to communicate. Explore the different equipment pieces each week to support building problem solving, navigating skills, and confidence.

Camp is located at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Park by Community Life Center. Drop off and Pick up at the Amphitheater. Our play floor comes to life with trips to the grocery store, eating pizza, finding animals, and even bugs! School is just around the corner, and in this class, you get to witness your child’s imagination come to life and be part of their learning journey.
