    Houston, TX

Years of Experience: 7 Location Options: In Studio Travel Radius: 40 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons Overview: I was born a native Houstonian, the son of a blues guitarist. My father was a guitar gunslinger on the local club scene. I received my first guitar at the age of six. I would listen to albums by was Montgomery, B.B. King, Albert Collins, and Jimmy Hendrix and try to imitate what i heard. After a few years and thousands of hours of practice, my father gave me one of his old electric guitars, a Lindell. I developed my skills by learning songs that afforded my the opportunity to play in clubs at the age of 12. In the 80’s i began doing tours with local bands. I went on a national tour with “H-Town” the Houston rb group who recorded songs such as “Knockin’ the Boots,” and “Keepin My Composer.” We toured Europe and performed at the Apollo Theater, Madison Square Garden, and on the Arsenio hall show. Four years after the untimely death of “H-Town” lead singer Dino, I became a session player for local and national recording artist “Lil’ Keke,” This lead me to be interested in becoming a producer. I formed a record label called “trackland.” To enhance my skills, I am currently working on my debut cd “kickin it.” In addition to producing, I also perform with local bands such as "Password" and "The Jimmy Hunter Band." * Formal Education: I attended Houston Community College and received a certificate of performance. Private Education: I was taught by Mike Wheeler and Mike Sunjka. Performing Experience: I have performed with H-Town, Doby Gray, Red Hot and Cool, Out of Control, Password, and The Jimmy Hunter Band. My name is Trey and I am a Guitarist/Keyboardist from Houston, Tx. I have been a student of music for 14 years. My musical influences include modern rock, gospel, CCM, indie, and pop. and I also enjoy Jazz. My teaching style can best be described as professional performance and recording. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I help you find your own sound. In my lessons, you can expect to learn basic theory, favorite song of your choice, how to create your own original music, and professional tricks. I like to tell my students to have fun and work hard because in the end it will be worth it. My favorite thing about teaching is helping students find out why they enjoy the music they listen to and how they can create it themselves. My favorite performance was me playing guitar for a television special at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Kentucky called "How Sweet The Sound". There I was rubbing shoulders with world-class musicians. My students love that I am very patient and help them understand music concepts by simplifying them in to very small segments. I primarily teach piano, but I can also teach electric guitar. My approach as a teacher is to lay down the groundwork for either you to just have a very rewarding hobby or pursue an actual professional path. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Micah's Music Lessons (Piano)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Houston, TX

Years of Experience: 6 Location Options: In Studio, In Home, In Webcam Travel Radius: 30 Genres: Classical, Acoustic, Pop Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult, Under 6 Years Instruments Taught: Keyboard and Piano Lessons Overview: ~~ My Experience: I?ve been playing the piano since I was six years old and currently teach elementary students, ages 8-12, within the Houston Independent School District. Over the years, I?ve had the joy of teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from children to young adults and adults, through one-on-one lessons focused on music theory, sight-reading, and piano technique. ~~ Music Introduction: My appreciation and love for music derived from my very unique upbringing as a child. Growing up in a very strict Vietnamese-American household, TV time was limited. But when I did get the chance, I?d always gravitate to Turner Classic Movies. I was captivated by the elegance of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany?s, the charm of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, and, of course, all the Shirley Temple films. These classic movies became my introduction to the world of music, and they sparked my lifelong love for both performing and listening. I was born in New Orleans, and my mom?an avid lover of live music?would take us around the Tulane campus, where the sounds of jazz were always in the air. The influence of great jazz artists like Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald helped shape my understanding and appreciation of music as something that transcends genres and connects us all on an emotional level. ~~ Why Piano: For me, the piano is more than just an instrument?it?s a way of learning to grow through challenges and connect with something greater than myself. During a particularly tough time in my childhood, playing the piano was one of the few ways I could soothe my emotions. It taught me how to stay present, embrace persistence, and understand that real success is earned through hard work and resilience. These lessons continue to guide me in life today, and they are what I strive to share with my students. ~~ What will you gain as my student: In my piano lessons, I aim to teach more than just how to play. You?ll learn how to develop focus, patience, and perseverance?skills that will stay with you both at the piano and beyond. I?ll guide you not only in mastering technique, but also in finding your unique voice through music, just as the great artists I admired growing up did. Whether you're playing a beautiful Chopin piece or a classic jazz tune, you'll be learning how to express yourself with confidence and joy. Performing Experience: Recitals, Public Piano Performing, Arts Music Festivals Experience Teaching: Current Piano Instructor in Houston Independent School District -Education- Degree: Civil Engineering
