Summer 2025 Wheel Throwing Class June M/W (ages 8-12)

Satisfy your curiosity, and experience a fun and thorough introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel. Learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more in this exciting introduction to throwing fundamentals. Your instructor guides you through the process of throwing, shaping and trimming pots on the wheel. Special handbuilding project and casting will also included. Basic surface decoration and glazing techniques are also demonstrated. This class is designed for students any level experience on the potter’s wheel. Those who have more experience will complete more pieces/ advanced techniques. Those learning will master the basic skills to create wheel thrown pieces. Register for all classes, as we will build on experience of the students. During our last class, we will meet the last 10-15 minutes of class for an Art Show Presentation. Students will showcase their pieces in an art show to guests. Parents- Invite grandparents, friends and family. All pieces go home the last day of class. Such a fun way for students to share what they have learned through process and design. Many projects are “built upon” each class, so that students experience a variety of mediums and take home several projects. Projects are new every session, so sign-up for both June and July sessions. Our Last Class we will have student presentations the last 15 minutes of class. Please bring a bag and some towels, paper to wrap all of your treasures and take home.

Our Phenomenal Physicists Camp is the perfect place to learn, create, and have a blast with fellow young scientists. The other part of the day is spent in: Mine, Craft, Build: Adventure Game using LEGO® Materials: Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® bricks. Resourcefulness, creativity, and cooperation come together in this unique building adventure game; roll the dice to mine for resources, and use these resources to build special items to help in our adventures! Build a Zoo, create a Medieval Castle, and design a Tree House Village! This experience is an original game designed by Play-Well instructors inspired by the popular game, Minecraft. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or the LEGO® building system.
