Piglet's Playgroup is a weekly session for children ages 1 - 4 and caregivers to nuture their creative relationships. Through meaningful, sensory rich experiences including dry and messy sensory play, playdough provocations and collage tables, and paint exploration stations we will play and learn together, picking up powerful skills like problem solving and making friends. We believe in child-led learning. There is so much power (and joy) that follows when you provide your child with the space and tools to discover themselves through sensory rich, meaningful exploration. We hope you'll join us and share moments of joy magic together this fall. PE 102 is a 90-minute class where students explore multiple sports in a fun, encouraging learning environment. This program is designed to keep students ACTIVE while they learn the basics of athletics and team sports. Each class includes: A dynamic warm-up and stretch Agility stations and skill-building drills Sport-specific units that cover rules, strategy, and fundamentals Classic, high-energy games like kickball, dodgeball, whiffleball, wallball, and capture the flag Our goal is to help students build confidence, coordination, and a love for movement—while having a blast with friends. Three days a week we open our studio to the public for children and their important adult to spend special time together. Our instructors provide support and instruction throughout several projects every time using countless materials, both conventional and not (spoiler alert: you can do a lot with shaving cream!). Use our space to explore your children’s interests in a natural, creative, and encouraging setting!

Our Simply Sensory program emphasizes process-oriented, explorative art making designed to excite the imagination, curiosity and creativity. Focusing on famous artists and sculpture, this class allows students to experiment with various media and techniques. 60 minutes.

In “What’s in our air?” students will build and use devices to understand the composition of the air we breathe. In this year-long experience, participants will develop practical engineering, computer programming, and teamwork skills while gaining improved understanding of our environment and how it is changing. We aim to build a low-cost air quality monitor, communicate with it via custom Python computer code, and use it to monitor the air near Pittsburgh. We also aim to plan and perform a weather balloon launch, and examine the data the balloon collects. We will compare our measurements of today’s air with historical extreme pollution in the Pittsburgh region, and with fully pristine natural conditions. A stipend will be awarded to participants at the conclusion of the program!

This course is for the Lil’ Chefs, ages 3-5, who still need an adult by their side. This is a hands-on cooking class that allows adults to help their little ones measure dry and wet ingredients. Each adult has the choice to cook alongside their child or assist, depending on their age and capabilities. We start with baking recipes where they will learn how to measure dry ingredients and mix various batters. We will be making Rice Crispy Friendly Spider Treats. Ages: 3-5 (older kids are welcome)

Celebrate fall the Corner House way: with paint, paper, and a pumpkin to reimagine. In this 90-minute drop-in workshop, every artist receives a blank paper maché pumpkin and full creative license to make it their own. Our studio will be stocked with paint, collage papers, ribbons, and embellishments, plus plenty of inspiration to spark new directions. Artists can go spooky or sweet, modern or classic, even give it a face and turn your piece into a Jack O'Lantern. Unlike the real thing, a paper maché pumpkin never rots, so what you make becomes a keepsake to bring out season after season. Great for all ages and a lovely way to make something together.
