River School House

River School has been serving families in Yarmouth and surrounding towns since 2007. We are an arts and nature based preschool drawing from Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and Montessori philosophies. The classroom environments are warm, homey and loving. We havetwo outdoor play spaces and frequently go to Royal River Park. <br/> <br/>We are dedicated to helping children develop social and emotional skills by providing a culture based on community, while at the same time honoring children’s unique individual way of being. River teachers are not only facilitators of learning; we are observers and co-learners as well. Children search out knowledge through their investigations, and teachers share their own curiosities and wisdom alongside them. There is a strong focus on social collaboration, working in groups, where each child is an equal participant, having their thoughts and questions valued. We encourage students to be inquisitive, be respectful, embrace human differences, and to feel comfortable as the unique beings they are.
