Philipsburg Child Development Cente

328 North Front Street, Philipsburg, PA 16866

About

PHILIPSBURG CDC is a multi-age child development center for children from 6
weeks of age through start of kindergarten. There are four classrooms
within the center: the infant room (6 wks. - 12 mos.), the toddler room (13 mos. - 36 mos.), the preschooler room (3 yrs. - start of kindergarten), and the PA Pre-K Counts room. Each classroom is set up to meet the developmental needs of the age group.

Philipsburg CDC, located in a large, turn-of-the-century house, is a "home away
from home". There are large play yards for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Since the center is in the heart of downtown Philipsburg, the children go on walks and take part in many community events.

Infants follow their own schedules for eating and sleeping. Staff provides one-on-one interaction and activities to foster development. Toddlers and preschoolers
have a consistent routine for meals, rest time, and activities. There is a balance of
active and quiet play plus group play and individual activities. Toddler activities
focus on language development and social interaction. Preschool activities focus on school readiness activities and socialization.

Philipsburg CDC offers a developmentally appropriate, inclusive, educational
curriculum. Teachers plan a daily schedule of activities designed to enhance the social, cognitive, and physical development of the children.

Philipsburg CDC offers a safe, child centered environment where children are
free to learn and explore. Every effort is made by the teachers to ensure that
children will experience nurturing care in a stimulating, enriching atmosphere. At
appropriate ages, field trips and special guests will be incorporated into daily
activities.

Trained teachers provide quality care. Child development centers have a full time staff with a background in child care, education and child development.

Philipsburg CDC is licensed by the PA Dept. of Human Services. The CDFC
participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, ensuring proper nutrition.
Meals, snacks, and infant formula are provided.

Families may contract for full-time, partial full-time, or part-time care. Subsidized funding is accepted.

PA Pre-K Counts placements and Early Intervention placements are available.
