I am a Behavior Therapist and a Certified Teacher. 14 years experience creating and implementing social programs for children with autism and other disabilities. Focus of the program is to build social skills that are explicit and implied in a systematic approach that will give children the ability to build meaningful relationships with family, peers and the world. Curriculum is built on a scaffolding model which emphasizes joint attention, greeting, social play, self-awareness, conversation, perspective talking, critical thinking, using advanced language, developing friendships and appropriate community skills.
Rethink Rejoin is a cognitive behavior strategy that helps students identify a problem behavior and find alternative ways to solve their negative behavior.
In the Rethink and Rejoin environment, the student can make a positive behavior choice. And once the student is calm and able to make a positive behavior choice, an apology is given and the student can rejoin the group.
