Preschool Social Academy

50 Cross St., Winchester, MA

Costimate: $220/wk

The Preschool Social Academy offers a professionally designed, thematic curriculum; complete with lesson plans, assessments, portfolios and newsletters for parents to use as a guide.

Children learn through hands on play and structured activities in our well organized learning centers. Our classroom is organized into "learning environments." These are the places within our classroom where the children can find the toys and materials related by theme, interest, and skills. These activities and toys can be used independently by the children, socially with others, or with teacher direction, to reinforce and enrich skills and concepts they need. Learning environments are an excellent way to individualize the curriculum to meet the varying needs of young children.

PSA has won first place in the Best Of Winchester Guide 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015!!

After attending an open house to meet all of the teachers, viewing each classroom, and filling out and turning in our application with a small application fee, we were so pleased to be accepted! The process was simple! My son enjoyed his time at PSA! We loved all of the outside time, fun theme related activities and interactions with teachers! My son especially loved the special activities planned for each day, especially the face painting and having a lemonade stand! It is great that they have their own kitchen and chef! I loved how my son got to try new healthy foods and how it saved me time that would have been used to pack one! Also seeing his friends eating the same healthy lunch helped my picky eater try more! I would definately recommend this school to anyone looking for a fun learning experience!

Dear Families,
My name is Carla and I am a state licensed EEC childcare provider. I am CPR certified and have first aid training skills. I have had background checks as part of my licensing requirement. I keep current on all required course work and learning workshops provided by the state. I worked at a private preschool for 1 year before deciding to venture into family home childcare. I also am licensed as an EEC preschool teacher.
Although I am licensed for 6 children, I prefer 2 or 3 at a time. I cared for a set of twins for 1 1/2 years and love it. They left for a preschool spot at 2.9 years. They are very much still a part of my family. I then cared for a 3 year old toddler and newborn that were from the neighborhood. Grandparents retired and wanted to look after them. Now, I am currently caring for a 9 month old. I would love to work with 1 other family that has 1 or 2 children.
I offer a great little program and a loving home environment. I have recommendations from previous parents and the director of the school. My daily routine consists of story time, music and movement, circle time, outdoor playtime and activities (40 x 40 fenced in space), arts & crafts and nap time. I love children and feel caring for them is the most important job you can have.
Please contact me at my email carlagill64@aol.com or my cell#617-512-7041 with any questions you have. I would love for you to visit my home. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Carla

Stepping Stones Family Care

47 Clifton Street, Malden, MA

Stepping Stones is a warm and nurturing community where your infant, toddler, or preschool child will thrive socially and academically. It is a fully licensed daycare/preschool that is run by a BPS teacher and mother of two from a gorgeous and spacious Victorian home across the street from a newly renovated playground and park in Malden, Massachusetts. A little bit about me, the director of Stepping Stones Family Care, my name is Nicole Tamarisk, and I am a mother of two, but I am also a Public School English Teacher with over 8 years of teaching experience. Since Stepping Stones is only offering a total of five spots for prospective clients, the teacher to student ratio will allow me to work closely with each child and his/her family from infancy throughout the toddler and preschool years. This type of setting allows me to support these future scholars as they grow and develop. I am offering mixed aged groups (Infancy through preschool) the chance to learn and thrive in a family environment. For the preschoolers, I plan on providing instruction on letters, numbers, and a curriculum based largely on the Montessori method that fosters independence and a love of learning in children. I also plan to provide yoga, music, and Spanish instruction for the students.

I am really excited to be able to continue raising my family and getting an opportunity to be closer to them, while still teaching, which is what I love to do! The daily routine offered here at Stepping Stones will create an environment where your children can experience a variety of planned and unplanned (yet intentional) activities. Your child will thrive under a balance of active and quiet times and in individual and multi-aged group settings. Family childcare settings are usually much smaller than childcare centers and for that reason, the amount of personal attention your child will be receiving will be of the highest quality. As a public school teacher with more than eight years of experience, it is of the utmost importance to me to provide an environment for children where they will learn and thrive. In our circle time children will sit together to sing a song, we will go over the calendar and the days of the week. We will explore a seasonal and/or thematic curriculum that helps kids learn the seasons, holidays, and how to be responsible citizens in their community. Our family care could certainly provide the right stepping stones for your children's future. Please make an appointment today.
