Learning Cottage Preschool

21 Douglas Ave, Burlington, MA

Starting at $350/wk

I am Shabana, mother of 3 children, certified curriculum coordinator, director and lead teacher for children, aged birth to 8 years. I have 18 yrs of experience in early childhood education.

Learning Cottage is a curriculum and theme based licensed family daycare and aftercare for toddlers through preschoolers. We provide a fun and play-based learning environment for little learners to develop their cognitive, motor, social, and emotional skills. My daughter attended the school for three years and our graduates have demonstrated excellent results in the classroom and beyond. I am proud to say our alums have gone on to win state-level awards in math and science.

I believe good health is equally important so we provide healthy and nutritious snacks and meals. If your child is a fussy eater, this is the place to be as we use encouraging techniques to help them learn to eat independently.

Our teachers are warm, attentive, caring, kind, experienced, and licensed by the DEEC. We have a diverse body of students and teachers and languages spoken in school besides English are Spanish, French, Arabic, Nepali, Urdu, and Hindi.

Weather permitting, we take kids out to our huge, safe and fenced playground for play, nature walks, birds watching, water play (summer) and many more fun activities. We also have short dance and Zumba sessions every day. Don't be surprised if your non-dancer kid asks you to dance with them at home!

Things to know:

- We encourage only potty trained kids (including kids with special needs) but diaper is provided if they need it for nap time.
- We take kids on field trips once a month (every week in summer).
- We celebrate birthdays and encourage parents to participate.
- Kids' worksheets and progress reports are sent home every Friday.
- Lesson plans are shared with parents the first day of each week.
- Ideas or suggestions from parents/staff are welcome and highly valued.
- We celebrate festivals across many cultures.
- We have tons of puzzles (beginner level to age 8), blocks, Legos, learning & educational toys, pretend play, and books.
- The center is cleaned and toys are sanitized every day.
- We provide half day, full day, and after-care programs.
- Transportation options available if needed.

Loving Family Daycare

86 Locust St., Burlington, MA

Starting at $0/hr

Licensed Childcare Openings in Loving Family Environment (Burlington, MA).

I currently have new openings in my Licensed Family Daycare Plus. "Plus" simply means that in addition to the standard 6 children license, I may also have two "school aged" children ages 5+ in my care. I run a flexible program, all rates are hourly, all schedules are welcome (full day, half day, 3/4 day etc.) Sibling discount available. I participate in a USDA monitored childcare food program and offer 2 healthy snacks and lunch.

Ages of care range from infant - school age. I have a 12 yr. old daughter and a 16 yr. old son. Due to early intervention my son is doing wonderful, but was diagnosed at 3 as globally delayed with a communication/processing disorder, Auditory Processing, Dyslexia, ADHD and anxiety, so I also have experience in some areas of special needs.

Program is primarily play-based learning but I do emphasize strong social skills and work on basic (pre-K) academic skills. Children 3+ have access to a computer (no internet but some educational/fun software is provided) and school age children have the option to begin homework in a separate, quiet area. Some examples of a typical day include indoor play of Mega Blocks, Fisher Price Little People, Kitchen, Puppets & Story Time. Outdoor play consists of such as Swings, Sandbox, Chalk, Bikes & Water Play (weather permitting) are in a large 6 ft. fenced yard. During warmer weather months we spend as much time as possible outdoors!

If you want your child in a loving environment, look no further. I describe all the children as being "like siblings" and although I am running a business they become part of the family and I love them all as if they were my very own!! I receive training through my food program and take many Dept. of Early Education & Care recognized training classes annually including First Aid & CPR.

Feel free to call me anytime to discuss any needs or concerns that you may have. If interested we could schedule an interview, I'd love to show you around!!

Preschool Social Academy

50 Cross St., Winchester, MA

Costimate: $220/wk

The Preschool Social Academy offers a professionally designed, thematic curriculum; complete with lesson plans, assessments, portfolios and newsletters for parents to use as a guide.

Children learn through hands on play and structured activities in our well organized learning centers. Our classroom is organized into "learning environments." These are the places within our classroom where the children can find the toys and materials related by theme, interest, and skills. These activities and toys can be used independently by the children, socially with others, or with teacher direction, to reinforce and enrich skills and concepts they need. Learning environments are an excellent way to individualize the curriculum to meet the varying needs of young children.

PSA has won first place in the Best Of Winchester Guide 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015!!

After attending an open house to meet all of the teachers, viewing each classroom, and filling out and turning in our application with a small application fee, we were so pleased to be accepted! The process was simple! My son enjoyed his time at PSA! We loved all of the outside time, fun theme related activities and interactions with teachers! My son especially loved the special activities planned for each day, especially the face painting and having a lemonade stand! It is great that they have their own kitchen and chef! I loved how my son got to try new healthy foods and how it saved me time that would have been used to pack one! Also seeing his friends eating the same healthy lunch helped my picky eater try more! I would definately recommend this school to anyone looking for a fun learning experience!
