Hello! My name is Marlana. I am currently in my senior year at Brooklyn College majoring in Early Childhood Education. I am also CPR/First-aid certified. I have worked at a daycare in Park Slope for two and a half years and I babysit occasionally for many families. I have also done night nursing for a newborn. I love creating special bonds with children and engaging them in activities. I enjoy taking children on walks to the park/ playground and to children-friendly places such as the zoo or museum. I would say my best qualities as a care provider are patience and giving them all of the love and attention that they need.

Marlana has been babysitting for us since spring 2019 and has been wonderful! I can't speak highly enough about her! I have two daughters (6 and 2 yrs) who just adore her and get excited when they know she is coming. Marlana is kind, calm, fun, reliable, flexible and extremely adept at navigating the needs of my sometimes sensitive 6 yr old (separation, meal times, bedtime, etc.). We've never actually seen our 6 yr old respond so well to a babysitter before! My daughter also has severe food allergies and Marlana is very comfortable with that. My children listen well to her and I love that she often reads to them and sings my 2 yr old a song before bed every time. in addition to taking excellent care of our kids, we are also always pleased to come home to find a tidy house. Marlana also has great communication with us, both for scheduling/confirming dates and while she's babysitting. We feel so lucky to have connected with her!

Mary has been am amazing babysitter! We hired her when my daughter was 10 months old and my daughter is now 26 months. She is so loving and caring my daughter loves her. She takes her out for walks, the park, for pizza......my daughter looks forward to when she comes. She keeps my active girl entertained all day. I recently had another baby and Mary now watches both my children. I know I am leaving my children in good hands when I have to go to work. I have nothing but good things to say! We love you Mary!!!

I am so thankful that I found Liz here on care.com. Friends recommended agencies and I never found anyone that I liked or trusted but immediately after meeting Liz, I could see that she genuinely loves children (& it shows in her interactions with my baby boy). She is punctual, professional, caring and is excellent with my infant son. Liz helps me out at least once a week and is a pleasure to be around and most of all, my son loves when she comes! Liz helps feed my 5 month old, play and put my infant son to sleep. She spends all day with him and is wonderful. She cares for my son like I do and best of all, she is considerate and tries to replicate what I do, my schedule with him and the way I would walk/feed/put him to sleep. I cannot say enough praise. I am just grateful to have found her. Thank you Liz!!!!

Experienced, High Energy Nanny/Babysitter Looking To Work With A Loving Family

Update: I'm currently working full-time for a family in park slope where I also live. I'm looking to pick up some date nights and/or weekend days with another loving and respectful family! I'm a responsible college graduate. I lived in Boston, MA over four years ago where I was working for a family in Swampscott, MA with three children (3, 5, and 6 years old) and had been with them for 3. 5 years. I worked in Asheville, NC for a few different families for over three years and have gained even more experience with infants, toddlers and older children. I have over 9 years of nanny experience on top of 10 years of babysitting experience. I would be more than happy to send along my references!

Katie was the full time nanny for my baby boy for 6 months until we moved out of the area. Katie is smart, kind, responsible, and punctual. She took care of all of the daily responsibilities of caring for a young baby: preparing bottles, transitioning to solid food, naps, diapers, stories, naps, songs etc. We were hit with a very difficult week, top teeth and a virus with a high fever all at the same time and Katie was a champ, caring him day after day when he felt his worst (and was challenging). Good days and hard days, she was there with a smile on her face. I cannot provide a higher recommendation.

Child Care

I like to think of myself as a Professional Auntie. Being a middle child of 8, my experience babysitting started within my family. From my older siblings, I now have 5 nieces and nephews ranging from 21 to 6 (and even an infant great-nephew), all of which I have actively been a part of their growing, developing, and living. Being a child care provider is something that has come natural to me through these experiences. Separate from my family, I worked with high school and middle school youth in an after-school program through a local Department of Parks and Recreation. In this position, I was responsible for the physical and mental well being of the adolescents and teens that regularly attended. Prior to leaving San Diego, I work with the San Diego Unified School District as a Special Education Technician a position I held from December of 2010 through July of 2014, with a second job providing respite care through the YMCA Child Resource Services. My experience with special needs has been very extensive these past four years. My interest was sparked when my (at the time) 2-year-old nephew suffered a traumatic brain injury. He has since been diagnosed with autism, as well as epilepsy. Through my involvement in his healing, I was introduced to the world of special needs-a world that has taken grasp of me. I have really found my niche in working with children and will be furthering my education studying early childhood special education, with an end goal of obtaining my masters in occupational therapy. Currently my studies have been focused on early childhood development and psychology. My hope is to work with young children. I am enrolled at College in New York, and am excited about the new families and children I will get to meet and work with there. I am passionate about working with children as there is no other job I've held that has brought me so much positivity, love and smiles! Currently I am working with one family in Brooklyn and am looking to add a regularly scheduled second family or provide babysitting on an as-needed basis.

Experienced Brooklyn Babysitter For Kids Of All Ages

(4)
Children have always had a very special place in my heart, and this is something that I was lucky enough to learn from a young age. I grew up in Indiana, where I started out watching my younger siblings, cousins, and neighbors from the time they were born to when they could care for themselves. I may not have realized it at the time, but I believe that having been surrounded by kids at that stage of my life shaped my personality and made me a more patient, empathetic, and well-rounded adult. I am very comfortable with children of all ages: newborns, toddlers, and school-aged kids, as well as multiples and special needs children. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and though I love to have fun, I am very responsible with health problems and risks that can happen with children of all ages. The safety of your child is of the utmost importance to me. I left Indiana for college in Chicago and continued babysitting and taking on more part-time nanny positions while I was in school. After living back home in Indiana for a year, I made the move to Brooklyn in April 2014 and I have been fortunate to have found some awesome families to work with in NY. I'm currently looking to find another great family where I can nanny part-time or for date nights! I have much experience working with many children in the past 10-15 years. I was a counselor at an elementary school summer camp in my hometown for two consecutive summers. It was one of the best experiences for me to be able to work with such special, smart, and fun-loving kids. I worked for a hotel babysitting agency, where I would be scheduled to watch kids while families were staying at 4-Star hotels in the Chicago area. This showed me the importance of being creative in small spaces and with kids who were not familiar with me as their regular babysitter. I also worked at a children's bookstore in Chicago, where I regularly read stories to kids visiting the store. I have been a nanny for several families and have always maintained regular babysitting jobs in Indiana, Chicago, and New York. It has been wonderful to form valuable connections with the children and their parents over the years. I love watching kids discover new things and embrace what they love. My interests have always been unique, making it easy for me to get along with many different types of children. I love everything from Batman to making ankle bracelets to creating scavenger hunts, so no matter what the personality-type, it is sure to be a fun time! I will be sure to follow any rules that have already been set in the household for the kids and create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for them. I have a lot of patience even when behaviors can get out of control and I will listen to each child's needs and wants throughout the time that I am watching them. I promise to create a reliable, energetic, creative, and healthy environment for your kids! I would love to answer any questions you may have and learn more about your family, so please feel free to message me. Thank you for reading, and I hope to meet you soon! All the best, Heather
