Seeking care for my loved one in her 60s. Services needed: meal preparation, medication prompting, mobility assistance, light housekeeping. No prior experience required. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my loved one: she can be anxious. My Aunt D has been recently given the diagnosis of CHF and is a long term COPD patient. She has also been struggling with Dementia for the past year and her mobility has now decreased significantly. We are looking for someone that can cook a light lunch, take out trash and a puppy pad, do a load of laundry if necessary, check to see that she has taken her morning medication, empty out any fridge contents that are old , and pick up a little around the apartment. It would be just a couple hours each day of the week. I'm looking for someone who is firm, fond of pets. My Aunt D used to be a very strong willed, independent lady who enjoyed cigarettes, alcohol, and telling it like it is. In her older years, she needs alot of redirecting. The ideal caregiver would be one that has alot of patience, is strict with boundaries, but also understands that this woman has been through a lot in her life and could just use someone to help her out through the week. I wish I could say that my Aunt D enjoys reading books and playing crosswords, but the truth is simple. She watches soap operas and daytime television. She enjoys time with her little chihuahua. She USED TO sit around and smoke cigarettes and drink diet coke all the time, but now she's not allowed to smoke and can't drive to get any cigarettes either.
