Seeking care for my grandmother in her 80s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, transportation, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my grandmother: she can be energetic, pleasant, grouchy, independent. My grandmother is your classic Great Depression kid, who greatly values her independence. She is kind, but easily overwhelmed with her increasingly limited physical abilities. She had a partial hip replacement last December, and a couple of small procedures since. She's recently learned she will need a full hip replacement and so we're looking for someone to help with transportation and basic care in an overnight capacity, as our designated family member has to return to work.
She loves midnight snacks, , and the Bible. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong. The ideal caretaker is compassionate and patient. Grandma (she will insist you call her this) is the type to want her autonomy respected and a method of consulting and asking her preference/opinion is the best way to convince her to do 'x' thing.
Looking for someone who is able to help her out of bed, general hygiene, supervise meds, prepare simple meals. (Many will be delivered by one of her granddaughters.) Ideally for a week, but we're hoping to find a good live-in option long-term. She's sassy! You'll love it. We have lots of family who will be in and out with groceries and meals, so most of those things will be handled on a large scale.
