High School Big Idea Lab Create and Deliver a TED-Style Talk! Rising Grades 9–12 | 1:30–4:30 PM Reston, VA – Highest Speak Center If your high schooler likes sleeping in during the summer, this afternoon camp is perfect! Great communicators don’t just speak well — they share ideas that inspire people to think, act, and lead. In this exciting High School Big Idea Lab, students will develop and deliver their own TED-style talk while learning the key elements that make persuasive and motivational speeches powerful and memorable. High school is when communication skills truly start to matter. Students are expected to present projects, participate in discussions, interview for leadership roles, and soon apply for college and internships. Yet most students are rarely taught how to develop a strong idea and present it in a compelling way. That’s exactly what this program focuses on. Throughout this high-energy 5-day program (3 hours per day) students will brainstorm ideas, write short speeches, and learn how to present them in a clear, engaging, and confident way. Students will learn how to: • Develop a powerful idea worth sharing • Organize and write a talk with clear structure • Use storytelling, persuasion, and motivational speaking techniques • Incorporate elements used in successful persuasive and inspirational speeches • Speak with confidence and presence • Manage nervousness while presenting • Deliver a talk that feels natural, thoughtful, and impactful Students will practice multiple speaking rounds throughout the week, receiving individualized feedback and coaching from instructors. Expect creative brainstorming activities, speaking games, collaborative exercises, and presentation challenges that make learning both fun and energizing. By the end of the week, students will deliver their own TED-style presentation and experience what it feels like to confidently share an idea with others. Leapstart's Young Speaker's Improv Camp is a lively four-day program for children ages 4.5–11, designed with age-appropriate activities and guided participation. Through playful improvisation, storytelling, and performance games, children learn to speak with confidence, express ideas clearly, and think on their feet—all in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

For ages 5–11, this fun and supportive camp helps kids build confidence, creativity, and public speaking skills through improv games, storytelling, and role-play. Campers practice thinking on their feet, using humor, and engaging an audience with voice, body language, and expression. The week concludes with a light-hearted showcase where kids demonstrate their new skills in the form of a video recording shared with their families after camp.

Calling all aspiring mermaids! Welcome to Mermaid Lagoon, where the magic of theater meets the enchantment of the sea. Our Mermaid Camp combines the best of both worlds, offering young performers the opportunity to turn into their very own shimmering mermaid and dive into the world of theater. Please remember to pack a water bottle, nut-free lunch and a yummy snack. Masks are optional. Drop off is from 9am - 9:30 and pick up is anytime between 3:30 - 4:00pm. Refund Policy: Please note that we have a no refund policy. Full credits will be issued for anything with a 4 week notice and can be used for any future Rabbit Hole activity.
