Choir Camps Near Me

Cantabile Choir members focus on learning to sing as an ensemble as we prepare music, including songs in foreign languages, to be performed at TCHA’s Choir Concert at the end of the semester (Friday, May 1st at 7pm). They will sing music from different genres, singing unison, 2-part, and 3-part music. Cantabile is appropriate for boys with unchanged voices.

Gloria Voce is a mixed choral group for students to grow together in learning to read music, sing harmonies, and apply vocal techniques of breath, blend, pitch, and resonance at the junior high level. In this season, students will find their voices are changing and we will adapt to their new “instrument” as that occurs. They will perform at TCHA’s Choir Concert at the end of the semester (Friday, May 1st at 7pm). No audition required.

Concordia is an ensemble of the most vocally skilled male participants drawn from Gloria and Divino Voce choirs. For students not previous accepted into Concordia, an audition is required to participate in this ensemble (registration will be opened to those who are selected to participate). Divino Voce is a mixed choral group for students who desire to continue growing their vocal and musical skills while singing exciting and increasingly challenging choral works at the high school level. They will perform at TCHA’s Choir Concert at the end of the semester (Friday, May 1st at 7pm). For students not previously accepted into Divino Voce, an audition is required* to participate in this ensemble (registration will be opened to those who are selected to participate). The tour is conducted by a New York City licensed tour guide. We offer this tour in French or English. Our tour guides are native speakers if each languages. In this tour we will visit 9 landmark sites which include the first Black Episcopal, Methodist, Pentecostal, and Baptist churches. We will examine their history, their leaders, and their role in the anti-slavery movement as well as the civil rights movement. This tour also looks at the role of Gospel music in the history of the Black church. We will study its growth from the ring shout (the foundation of all African American music), to the Spirituals, the role of the Protestant hymnals, ending with what became known as Gospel Blues, today simply called Gospel music. The tour ends with a visit to a church service where we will listen to a live Gospel choir, it is not a concert but a real church service.

If it is Wednesday, it’s Gospel in Harlem. A 60-minute Wednesday Gospel Praise at a neighborhood Black historic church. This is not a church service but an hour of inspirational gospel and spirituals with music ensemble. Visitors are invited to join in the musical fellowship. Highlights: Visit a local church and participate in a mid-week musical fellowship with local congregation and singers. The hour includes gospel and spirituals led by professional church choir singers.
