Our camps are organized into 3 age groups, so all chefs team up with their peers. All chefs will get to taste everything that they cook. All recipes will be sent home for later preparation. A child may also pack up any uneaten tastings to share at home. This is a hands-on cooking camp. Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

One reservation ($50) for up to four participants, an $20/person for more than four (paid day of). No experience necessary. There is no age limit, but participants under 4 years old will require much more guidance from guardian. All kids must be accompanied by a guardian. Clay and underglaze are included. This 8 class session will begin with hand-building techniques to provide a better understanding of the ceramic medium before working on the pottery wheel. Artists will learn about the full ceramic process from creating their own ceramic pieces, the firing process, as well as glazing. Students will learn how to use ceramic tools and equipment from needle tools and ribs to slab rollers, extruders and electric wheels. Artists who have taken this course with us will be able to continue building on their skills and knowledge with different projects that we demonstrate, as well as learning how to develop their own ideas and projects with the teacher's guidance. The class is 2 hours once per week for 8 weeks. The registration fee includes clay, use of tools and supplies. Please note that we are unable to offer make-up classes, nor a pro-rate for future missed classes. Once the session is over you will receive an email notice that the ceramic pieces have completed their glaze firing and are ready for pick up. This typically takes a week or two after the session wraps up.

You’ll learn the basics of needle felting, including how to shape, layer, and attach wool to build animals step by step. From tiny ears and tails to spots, stripes, and expressions, you’ll add personality and detail to bring your creatures to life. You can create a real animal or invent one of your own! Throughout the week, you’ll practice patience, focus, and craftsmanship while working safely with special tools and plenty of guidance. By the end of the week, you’ll have one or more soft, sculpted animal friends to take home and show off. This workshop is perfect if you enjoy animals, soft materials, and creating small sculptures with big character!
