This fun-filled session will introduce young artists to four exciting art mediums (ceramic, charcoal, acrylic, & mixed media), where they'll explore and experiment with different ways to create! Each project takes two class periods, giving students time to dive deeper into their work and really develop their skills. Along the way, they'll learn essential art terminology, learn and build on different techniques, and even discover a bit of art history to inspire their creativity. As students work with different materials, they'll enhance their hand-eye coordination, build problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in their ability to express themselves through art. With our small 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, each child gets plenty of individual attention to help them grow and succeed. This class structure makes this class perfect for both new students and continuing students as we are able to meet each student where they are at to foster their creativity and encourage growth. Throughout the school year, each new session brings fresh projects that build on what they’ve already learned, offering a continuous journey of artistic exploration. By the end of the session, your child will have not only a collection of unique artwork but a stronger foundation in creativity and a real love for making art!

This independent art class is designed for teens who are ready to explore their creative potential and develop their own artistic projects. Students will be introduced to, and encouraged to explore, a variety of mediums—including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, and collage—while receiving personalized guidance from an experienced instructor. Whether you're interested in building your technical skills or discovering your own unique style, this class offers the freedom to experiment and create at your own pace. New Teen students will complete three pre-designed projects with their teacher's guidance to help aid them in learning how to set-up/clean-up supplies and materials, get a feel for what mediums are available, and allow teachers to get a feel for the student's level of skill and art knowledge before diving into more independent study. What You’ll Learn: Medium Exploration: Gain hands-on experience with a wide range of art forms, including pencil and charcoal drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, clay sculpture, printmaking, and collage techniques. Project Development: Learn how to conceptualize, plan, and execute your own independent projects. With teacher support, you’ll refine your ideas and bring them to life. Rebel Art Summer Camps are full of exploration, creative excitement, and and just plain fun! Each week we offer a variety of different media projects (acrylic painting, watercolor, plaster sculpture, mixed media, collage, printmaking, and more!). Projects change each week making it easy for campers to attend multiple weeks of camp without repeating projects, but further exploring the range and depth of mediums. We ensure a good balance between 2D and 3D projects, so whether your young artists prefers to build things and be hands on, paint, draw, or print things they'll be more than pleased! Our camps are not only fun, but an opportunity for young artists to explore art mediums that they typically do not get in school, education in art terminology and art history (including current artists). We break up the week by hosting camp in different locations. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are hosted at the studio at 1444 South Main st., Tuesdays we meet at Civic Park (1375 Civic Dr, Walnut Creek), and Thursdays we meet at Larkey Park (Larkey Ln., Walnut Creek). This unique opportunity is only offered during summer camps and is incredibly special as it allows campers to experience working in plein air (from life outside) as well as in the studio for a complete art experience. Please note that we keep a close watch on the weather and air quality and will relocate to the studio if it will be too hot or poor air.

About Sports: Each day features 7 games tailored by age group. Continue your practice in traditional sports such as basketball, flag football, soccer, and volleyball. Additionally, play new and creative games like bubble soccer, black light dodgeball, gaga ball, and ultimate ball, just to name a few. Spark your child's athletic desire! More than Just Sports: With the GrowFit staff, our camp isn’t just about picking up a ball or swinging a bat. It's about nurturing a lifelong passion for sports, instilling the true essence of sportsmanship, and creating bonds of friendship. Every Athlete: Whether you're making your debut in team sports or it's your eighth year competing on travel teams, our camp caters to each individual’s sporting journey. Here, everyone’s an MVP! Friendships & Memories: Engage in team challenges and share moments of laughter that go beyond the playing field. Let the sports begin! Wear your favorite jersey and sport your favorite sport! Our sports week is a fun time to show your team pride! Doesn’t matter the sport! Let’s just have fun! Logistics Drop-off: 8:45-9:00 am at the multi-purpose room, through the blue arch. Late drop-offs are permissible. Pick-up: 3:45-4:00 pm at the same location. Early pick-ups are acceptable. Lunch & Snacks: For allergy precautions, please pack a lunch labeled with your camper's name and 2-3 wholesome snacks. Venue: GrowFit boasts both indoor and outdoor facilities. Outdoor activities are contingent on weather conditions and occur on the field and playground. Sun Protection: Please apply sunscreen before drop-off. We also supply sunscreen for reapplication. Kindly inform the camp manager of any sensitivities. Hydration: Kindly pack one or two cheap water bottles. Attire: We recommend athletic clothing, shoes, and a hat. For younger children, please bring an extra set of clothing in the event of accidents. Refunds and Cancellations: Cancellations made at least 30 days prior to the camp date will be eligible for a full refund, minus a 10% cancellation fee. For cancellations occurring within 30 days of the camp start date, we are pleased to offer a credit for future participation in our camp. Called "A Gem of the East Bay," and voted "Best Botanical Garden" by Sunset Magazine (2019), a visit to the Ruth Bancroft Garden offers visitors an opportunity to see cacti, succulents, California natives and other rare and unusual drought tolerant plant species from around the world. The Garden features many large, mature plant specimens, originally planted by founder, Ruth Bancroft, that are not often seen in other dry gardens, making for a unique visitor experience all seasons of the year.
