We’re starting a wild rumpus this week for Maurice Sendack, a beloved children's book illustrator best known for his work “Where the Wild Things Are”. One of the most celebrated authors in children's book history, Sendak is credited for pioneering a more realistic portrayal of childhood and the scope of children's emotions. Students will focus on line and form with this illustrative ink drawing inspired by Sendack’s detailed and expressive style. Encouraging storytelling through images, they will have the opportunity to add their own embellishments as they depict this playful monster.

    Advanced Art: Pop Art Flowers

    100%

by The Giggling Pig - Milford

    Milford, CT

Pop Art roots itself in the representation of everyday elements and objects popular in mass culture. It favors bold colors that are taken out of context with playful imagery. The perfect style to interpret the popular month of May subject…..FLOWERS . This weekly 2-hour class is a great option for kids looking to move ahead with their artistic talents. The students are given more independence and freedom to be creative with the projects, and they have more autonomy in how their projects go. Projects often run for 3-4 weeks to give students the extra time to create a really impressive piece. Recommended for ages 9-16. Dress for a mess! We often work with acrylic paints and oil pastels, which can be very difficult to remove from clothing.

*Mid-session registration: If you are signing up AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF THIS SERIES OF 8 CLASSES, email info@marvegos.com about a possible project conflict before you arrive for class.* Our school year curriculum for age 12 and up emphasizes personal responsibility and self-directed art-making under the guidance of the instructor. Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

Beginner Art Lessons -Helen Frankenthaler abstract paint pour

    100%

by The Giggling Pig - New Haven

    New Haven, CT

This week we are experimenting with application as we mimic the influential American artist Helen Frankenthaler. Inventor of the soak stain technique, Frankenthaler pushed the boundaries of color field painting in abstract expressionism. So to celebrate this marvelous approach, we too will be pouring paint instead of using brushes! Students will have the opportunity to explore color mixing as we learn about the color wheel and its various approaches. Then, we will give each concoction a chance to shine as it gets cascaded over the canvas in a spectacular free fall.

Lil' Chefs | Grand Kickoff Camp - 4 Day Attendance

    by Lil' Chef School

    Irvine, CA

Grand Kickoff Camp MENU This is the perfect camp to kick off our cooking summer camp series! This flavorful week is designed for curious Lil' Chefs to explore French, Italian, and Asian cuisines, and to learn how to sauté, simmer, and season like pros. They’ll also practice foundational baking skills while creating sweet desserts and kid‑favorite recipes. It’s a perfect mix of global cooking and hands‑on kitchen confidence. (Note: The menu is subject to change based on ingredient availability.) ABOUT SUMMER CAMP: Whether your child likes to bake, create, roast, sauté, fry, or blend, we have a camp for all interests. Our camps are organized into 3 age groups, so all chefs team up with their peers. All chefs will get to taste everything that they cook. All recipes will be sent home for later preparation. A child may also pack up any uneaten tastings to share at home. This is a hands-on cooking camp. FOR MORE INFORMATION: Visit our FAQ page at https://lilchefschool.com/kids-cooking-summer-camp-faq.html Please view our full list of Summer Camps at https://lilchefschool.com/kids-cooking-summer-camp-schedule-registration.html PLEASE NOTE: **We are a nut-free school and can accommodate ONLY and ALL nut allergies. We cannot accommodate any other allergies and/or food restrictions. If children have gluten or dairy sensitivity, they can participate but cannot taste. ** If a class/camp is not filled, we will combine age groups as we see appropriate and assign a task(s) based on skill level. For our Tiny Chefs ages 4-6, we use time fillers because our little ones get tired of cooking for 3 hours, and/or it is difficult to keep their attention for this long period. So, our Chefs will play games, or let our Tiny Chefs color, or play other food-related games to finish our time. Unless you purchase a 30-minute Pre-Care pass, you may arrive NO MORE THAN 10 minutes early for check-in, and you MUST stay with your child until the start of camp. Also, unless you purchase an After-Care pass, any guardian who is late picking up their child will be charged $50 for every 10-minute increment upon completion of the camp – unless we are notified of the tardiness in advance. Refund Policy Please be advised that summer camp fees are non-refundable, and all sales are final. If advance notice is given, you may transfer it to a different week, if available. A $10 transfer fee will apply.
