Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

When school is out of session, send your child to Rachel’s Young at Art Studio for a morning of art-filled fun! Camp includes arts and crafts, story time, dramatic play, sensory activities, and lots and lots of fun! Each child will come home with a bag full of art relating to the day's theme. There will be plenty of opportunities to get messy during camp days!

Introducing our FUNdamentals class, the perfect way to kickstart your child’s gymnastics journey! Designed specifically for preschoolers, this class fosters confidence, patience, control, and coordination, using fun, age-appropriate gymnastics equipment. Through engaging circuits and drills, your little ones will develop fine motor skills while discovering the excitement of being a budding gymnast! Here’s what our young athletes will work on: Strength & Flexibility: Building a strong foundation for gymnastics. Gymnastics Body Positions: Learning shapes and colors to help reinforce body awareness. Tumbl Trak: Practicing jumps, body control, proper landing, and beginner tumbling. Vault: Mastering running, jumping, and body positions on the springboard. Floor: Introduction to forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, and cartwheel basics. Bars: Focusing on grip strength, chin holds, L-holds, front supports, and more! Beam: Balance, walks, jumps, and beginner skills on the beam. Our school year curriculum for ages 4.5 to 7 includes a mix of works on paper and sculptures that offer a variety of media and opportunities to develop the student's understanding of basic concepts and terminology used in fine art making. Calling all car lovers out there! During this session, children will build a new kind of car each week and learn the concepts surrounding it. For example one week might focus on a power car where children try different gear combinations and another week might focus on building a car with sails and learn all about wind resistance and its effect on speed. Some models will focus on programming too. (Please note: IntelliBricks will provide all LEGO® and computers for the camp. Children cannot take home any of their creations or LEGO® products. Explore the world of making your own clay creations! This class will teach you how to create several hand-built clay pieces. Students will be introduced to Kiln firing, and procedures, as well as stages of clay: Wet, Greenware, Bisqueware, and more. Each student will custom glaze each project, and have all pieces fired in our kiln. Many projects are “built upon” each class, so that students experience a variety of mediums and take home several projects. Projects are new every session, so sign-up for all sessions OR our school program for discounted rate.

Broadway Stars was created by a professional performer turned child development specialist with the primary goal of helping children develop the foundational skills and technique every musical theater performer needs while giving them the opportunity to find their voice, build confidence, and do what every budding Broadway Star loves most: PERFORM! Classes are taught by a team of professional teaching artists with years of experience in the classroom and on professional stages and feature a customized curriculum designed to challenge and showcase the strengths of each young performer while helping prepare them to participate in our mainstage musical this Spring. Each week, your child will participate in acting games, choreography rehearsal, and vocal coachings as they learn scenes and songs from Broadway Musicals that they will perform onstage for family and friends at the end of the semester. Whether your child is destined for the lights of Broadway or simply loves to perform with their friends, this class will spark their creativity and give them the confidence to shine both onstage and off! *While participation in our Fall Semester is not required to enroll in our Spring Production classes, it is strongly encouraged. *Our Fall Finale will take place on a weeknight the week of December 14. Once we know how many students are participating in Stars this Fall, we will be able to finalize the location, day, and time and share that information with families. *There will be no regular class the week of Decembr 14th as we will be doing our performance instead!
