About who needs care: Looking for occasional care (daytime, evening, or overnights) for our 28-year-old son who is cognitively impaired. We are looking for a mature provider who can be available to prepare some meals and provide transportation, and companionship/mentoring.
Our son is able to manage all his personal care except for preparing meals that require more than a microwave. He loves Asian flavors but eats almost anything but cheese.
During the school year he works approximately 18 hours per week. He can get himself to work. In the summer he usually attends a 1/2 day camp, 2-4 days per week, that he needs to be taken to and picked up (usually 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. )
He likes to eat, take walks, watch or play sports, ride his bike, watch movies, and talk.
About the care needs: Our caregiver must be dependable and trustworthy and always be on-time picking him up. They would need to give him a sense of being safe. A quieter personality type but one who is happy to engage in conversation and has the patience to answer a lot of questions. Also someone who can both engage in activities and be happy staying home watching a baseball game (or doing their own thing at the house while he watches). He loves to golf (Par 3) so someone who likes to do that would be great but not required.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
