Seeking care for my grandmother in her 80's. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, mobility assistance. Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, nursing experience, support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my grandmother: she can be grouchy, independent. M has vascular dementia, she can be very grouchy when first getting to know people. She is used to me, her granddaughter, being with her 24:7 so she can get upset when I take time for myself. She will repeat questions as to when I'm coming back or if she can go home. She needs someone patient enough to reassure her without getting offended by her attitude. Those with experience with patients who have dementia/Alzheimer's is very important. She can go to the bathroom herself, but needs help making sure her brief is dry and if a bowel movement is made. She needs her medications in the morning and at night as well as eye drops and breathing treatment. She is on oxygen but can be stubborn about using it. She is very strong willed. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong, fond of pets. Someone who has experience with dementia/Alzheimer's patients. Someone who is personable and attentive. Someone with patience and understanding. My grandmother has trouble walking distances but can get up to use the bathroom and transfer on her own with a walker. She loves crime shows and someone to sit and watch them with her attentively (no smart phone distraction). She used to be very outgoing and loves to talk, but might be standoffish at first. She likes to look through magazines with people or play cards. She loves going for car rides as well.
