About who needs care: Is diabetic with neuropathy, has AFib, and is suffering the after effects of shingles (weakness, dizziness, nerve pain) and has insomnia. Loves to read and listen to music with headphones (she's very hard of hearing).
I fix her breakfast about 930, then hopefully she takes a long nap to ward off the insomnia fog. She is usually more alert in the mid-afternoon having a snack and a cup of tea rather than lunch. Showering is difficult so a daily sponge bath and once a week shower is about all she can tolerate. She still dresses herself and manages to go to the bathroom on her own most of the time.
About the care needs: A laid back person would be a good fit as most days are not on a regimented schedule. They need to speak loudly and the only skill needed should be conversation, as I believe mom needs more distraction than I can provide.
Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
