As a UC Berkeley graduate with a BA in Psychology, I have been successfully working with students of all ages and developmental backgrounds since 2003. I teach core subjects like Math, Science, Reading, Writing and Comprehension as well essential critical thinking and executive functioning skills which are prerequisites for success in higher education. I also prepare students for standardized tests like PSAT, SAT, ACT, HSPT, ISEE and coach them throughout the admissions process. I am Lindamood-Bell trained so I have extensive experience teaching literacy and reading comprehension to a wide variety of students including those with special needs. My background in NLP, Hypnosis, Yoga and Expressive Art Therapies allows me to offer students effective tools and techniques to help reduce performance anxiety, build confidence and maintain an overall positive attitude throughout their education. I would love the opportunity to work with your son or daughter, contact me today!

We love Atusa. Our 4-year-old is learning English as a second language and Atusa was very professional and approached things in a methodical fashion; at the same time, she was incredibly warm to N. N. had a lot of fun working with Atusa and she still says she misses her. We were just saying we wish she would move to Amsterdam with us!

Part Time Reading, Writing, History, Math Tutor Ages 4-10

My approach to tutoring little ones is to make sure their imagination is always at work. Rather than having them memorize something, I'll create a story or play a game with them to help them remember. With technology being so dominant in little ones' lives now, I want to make sure they're still trying to understand the process of how the world around them works rather than just plugging it in for a machine to do it for them. I believe that stimulating their imagination along with the growth of their intellect will be the key in seeing major results. A little academic background on me: I have excelled in English throughout all of my years in school. I have taken 2 honors (Freshman-Sophomore year) and 1 AP English course (Junior year, getting a high pass on the AP exam) so far in high school, and I plan on taking AP English Literature my Senior year. I've babysat for several families in the past and love kids, so I figured why not pass down the skills I love in school to my second love, kids! History is my second favorite subject, and I've taken 1 honors (Freshman Year) 1 AP (European History of which I received a high pass on the exam), and this past year I received a 100% on my US History final. History, mainly US, has always been fascinating to me as I love to learn the stories that make civilizations what they are today. Reading is also a passion of mine. I've been reading since I can remember, and it breaks my heart to hear and see kids who don't like to read, so I want to do everything in my power to guide kids to love it as much as I do.
