Seeking care for my mother in her 60s. Services needed: companionship, meal preparation, transportation. No prior experience required. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be pleasant, reserved. Very quiet at 1st. Not very active. Can be very weak if she had chemo that week. Doesnt drink or smoke and prefers a non smoker being shes sensitive to smells from chemo. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty. A lady who is not very young. Someone who is maybe from the south or at least presents southern hospitality. Can cook a meal or at least fix a hearty snack. Is not combative, aggressive or shows too much dominance in any way as that can be fearful for many seniors. Can handle her sensitive days and doesn't mind if she is sad. But can also hold a conversation. Also, if she is talking loopy, or says something off, not telling her, "you said different last time" or "your wrong ". Just let her be her age and enjoy it. Also if you love to fish, it's a great plus. My mother is a quiet woman until she feels comfortable. She loves telling her stories over and over, true or not. If you show no intrest( as many people) she will shut down. She likes to snack, she loves to fish or watching those fish. She likes hood company from time to time when she is in the mood. You will definitely know if you are liked by her company. Shes not the type to hurt feelings but her silence speaks volumes. With that said, shes a sweetheart and soft and sensitive which is why I'm VERY VERY selective about her company.
