Danny's Music Lessons (Orchestral, Song Writing)
by Taylor Robinson Music
Lubbock, TX
Years of Experience: 25 Location Options: In Home Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Country, Acoustic, Christian, RB, Gospel, Pop Age Groups: Adult Instruments Taught: Song Writing Lessons,Orchestral Lessons Overview: Hi, my name is Danny and I am a trombonist and composer from West Texas. I have been a student of music for 35 years. My musical influences include movie composers such as Danny Elfman and John Williams, and Jazz composers and musicians such as Count Basie and Frank Rosolino to name a few. I also enjoy playing golf. My teaching style can best be described as psychological and empathetic. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I teach students technique and then how to use that technique to manipulate the emotions of the listener. In my lessons, you can expect to learn proficiency and the effect of the human emotion through music. I like to tell my students practice doesn't make perfect....perfect practice makes perfect. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students succeed in auditions and having the parents thank me when my students are happy being in top bands. My favorite performance was Santa Clara Vanguard when they won DCI championship with Phantom of the Opera in 1989 or 1990. My students love that I am more patient than i should be and when i give them visualizations of the music they are playing. I primarily teach trombone, but I can also teach Baritone, and Trumpet. My approach as a teacher is to assess the student's skill level or potential and write lessons to nurture each student's individual proficiency. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!

My name is Alonzo. I’ve been a musician since I got my first guitar at 11. My favorite band is The Mars Volta. I’m an excellent bassist and guitar player. I have a few synthesizers I play, but I wouldn’t say my piano skills are worthy of teaching. I have my own band I’m getting up and running and I’m going to school for music production. I’ve been finding frustration working off jobs while going to school but it never hit me to work in music until this week. I’ve taught guitar before when I was stationed overseas in Japan. The MWR offered free guitar lessons to service members and their families and I volunteered to host it. I had classes of anywhere from 3-7 people twice a week in person. Michael's Music Lessons (Orchestral)
by Taylor Robinson Music
Pasadena, CA
Years of Experience: 15 Location Options: In Home Travel Radius: 30 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Country Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Orchestral Lessons Overview: I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, so I was surrounded by music my entire life. The simple act of being driven home from school brought me face to face with these huge buildings, all of them recording studios and record labels... So, I got into violin when I was 5, through the Suzuki method, because my parents forced me to. At the time, I really wanted to play drums, but we lived in a small apartment at the time, and they didn't want to make the neighborhood mad. They're first choice was actually piano, but they were afraid it would cost too much. So, after several months, when the indomitable scratches I was making finally turned into something vaguely resembling "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," I gradually became hooked. I loved music, loved the feel of the violin under my neck, and loved playing in front of people... BUT the overall stuffiness, pedagogical rigidity, and absurd pomposity of the whole classical violin scene wasn't really what I had in mind, so (being blessed with wonderful, supportive parents) I started getting involved with old-time and bluegrass fiddling style - really loving the chance to do something more fun, more freeing, and more a part of my culture and heritage...Then, to make a potentially really long story shorter, I discovered Jean-Luc Ponty, got an electric, and starting going crazy. .... Basically, musically speaking, I don't believe in boundaries - I don't think musicians need to be categorized or put into little boxes that tells them what they can and can't do. I think people should be allowed to explore whatever voices they find something true and beautiful - and feel free to add their own voice. I wanna learn from anything and everything, because music provided a window into another human's soul - and I believe each soul has value. I don't exalt Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms above anyone else, but I prefer to learn the music of the outsider, the marginalized, and the voiceless. As a teacher, I believe each student needs to be encouraged to improvise, and discover their own voice, not merely be told what to play. * Formal Education: May, 2008 BA Anthropology, Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL July, 2009 Teacher-training, Strings Without Boundaries Camp, Duquesne University, Pittsburg, PA Currently enrolled at Fuller Theological Seminary, Intercutlural Studies with Dual Emphasis in Ethnomuiscology and Urban Studies. Experience Teaching: bull; Taught beginning violin technique at Asian Youth Services Center, Boocoo Music and Arts Center, and Music for Kids at Pierce Elementary School. Years of Experience: 10 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 10 Genres: Rock, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons Overview: Julian was born in Kazakhstan. As a child he was introduced to bands like The Beatles, Queen, and ABBA which provided the inspiration for him to pursue a life in music. At the age of 10 Julian and his family moved to Israel where he got a job paying $1 an hour so he could buy a guitar. Music was Julian's only escape in life. A couple years later Julian recorded a few songs with his band, took the demos along with his guitar and boarded a plane for America. He landed in New York City ready to change his life. The date was August 8th, 2001. Two days later, his life did change. After the 9/11 attacks and the ensuing aftermath, Julian couldn't legally stay in the states. He returned to Israel and although a guitarist, Julian became a lead singer in one of the most innovative rock bands in Israel. In 2005 Julian toured Canada with the band, but a calling still beckoned him to quit the band and return to New York. He applied for an Artists Visa, in 2007 Julian was approved as a musician with extraordinary ability by the American Federation of Musicians. Julian came across an add looking for a guitarist put out by fellow Brooklyn-ite and frontman of Chiba-Ken, George William. Julian was accepted into the band, they moved to Los Angeles and became the band they are known as today, Save Our Souls. In 2008 After recording the full length album entitled "Hard To Be Human" with producer Mike Watts (As Tall As Lions), Julian and the band relocated from New York to Los Angeles and soon earned a residency at the world famous Whisky A Go-Go, performed at the Playboy Mansion, performed at the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival headlined by The Smashing Pumpkins and Slash, recorded a new track with platinum recording artist Yung Berg, and have just collaborated on a new track with former G-Unit member Chyno Soul. The program that I created exists to improve the level of professionalism within the field of music and to advance the value of music study and music making. The program offers an increased opportunity for young guitar players looking to utilize their talents and strengths in music. It also creates an environment that supports musical excellence and artistic integrity. Unlike a lot of teachers who just want to teach what they know, I listen to what my students want to learn, making it flexible and exciting for them. *I teach in English, Hebrew and Russian
