Ryan's Music Lessons (Guitar, Piano, Song Writing)
by Taylor Robinson Music
Sun Valley, CA
Years of Experience: 6 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 15 Genres: Rock, Blues, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Keyboard and Piano Lessons,Song Writing Lessons Overview: I like to focus on the personable and instinctive qualities of music with my students. Too many times does a student lose interest or lack the appropriate teacher to delve them into the music they want to learn, and I think that's a shame. A lesson plan isn't 100% what the teacher wants, nor is it 100% what the student wants. There must be a shared interest in both the teacher's and student's desires. I focus strongly on ear training and tapping into the innate musical sense that some students may not realize they have without the guidance of a mentor - that is where I come in. Formal Education: Berklee College of Music BA in Film Scoring, 2012 - private guitar piano instruction Private Education: 3 years study in classical guitar 4 years study in electric guitar 10 years study in piano (contemporary, jazz) Performing Experience: Regular bassist for Boston-based Indie band "Cowgill" (2011-2013) Weekly playing at St. Finbar Catholic Church in Burbank, CA - contemporary praise band (pianist/vocalist) Various Musical Theatre experience (on-stage) Experience Teaching: I started teaching other teenagers private guitar lessons, then quickly branched into the surrounding communities to teach kids from age 5-18 for 3 years. I continued this teaching routine throughout college, then teaching in a studio at Music Arts (national store) in Boston, MA for 2 years.

My drumming style can best be categorized in two words…John Bonham. I’m able to instruct in the following genres: Rock LZ, JP, BOC, BTO, STP, VH, The Monkees…etc., Funk, Country, Country Rock, Blues and some Metal. My guitar style is very diverse and I can teach in the above genres as well as Praise and Worship music, Latin and Smooth Jazz. Performing Experience: Started playing drums at age 8 and was given my first guitar at the age of 12. Joined my first pro band at the age of 18 and by age 21 was touring the northwest. Irsquo;ve opened for such bands as April Wine, B.O.C., Head East, Robin Trower, Nazereth, Quiet Riot, and more. Experience Teaching: During '07 and '08 I taught drums and guitar to young students at the Ray and Joan Kroc center here in San Diego. Guitar classes were attended by 3 to 5 students at a time with varying degrees of talent. The challenge was to bring beginning students up to speed while keeping intermediate students interested and moving forward within an hour class. I taught private and group lessons on drums. 1 hour group lessons (with varying degrees of talent and interest) were made up of 7 to 10 students. I kept these students improving by using recordings of popular songs as well as call and response type drumming. Half hour private drum classes were a breeze. Some newer students could hardly reach the kick drum pedal but were taught the how-to's by mirroring me on a second set of drums. Other intermediate drummers were taught favorite songs or rhythms within their range. This was done with recordings and by mirroring me on that second set. All lessons were taught with a spirit of fun and patience.

by Taylor Robinson Music
Studio City, CA
Years of Experience: 15 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 20 Genres: Rock, Blues, Country, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Drum Lessons Overview: Russell was born and raised in Florida growing up around the music industry. At the age of two he received his first instrument (the piano). His mother described it as banging and clanging and was thankful that he did not have a drum set. Little did she know he was already moving towards becoming a drummer. Russ?s dad was a trumpet player and Latin percussionist working for Disney and local gigs taking Russ with him. Upon having a fascination with the drums he began to build drum sets using furniture in the house to mimic what he was seeing and hearing through his dads gigs/rehearsals and the music that was played in the house (jazz, pop, and Latin music). These were his first experiences. At the age of 10 he joined the school band signing up to play drums. Around this time he discovered MTV and a life changing music video "Motley Crue?s Wild Side?. Instantly his direction had changed as he began to seek out more rock bands and eventually metal. By the age of 15 he had his first band spending hours a day honing his craft, and quest to become a professional musician. By the age of 18 he was performing with bands in the local area as well as teaching privately to other drummers from beginners to intermediate players. Not old enough to be in the clubs he would perform and then have to leave the club. Come into his early 20?s he was recording at Trans Con Records with Elisa Cariera (Solid Harmony). A track they did called ?I am gonna like it here? ended up on the Mary-Kate and Ashley License to drive video game. Also around this time he was subbing for Wrong who was performing for WJRR radio events as well as Earthday Birthday led by host Larry the Cable Guy which drew in more than 10,000 people. After doing multiple gigs in the area with numerous bands he landed a gig playing drums for Megan Mchauley (Wind Up Records). After working for the record he moved to Los Angeles to further his career as a musician and teacher. Upon arriving in Los Angeles he networked through the area playing with bands Old Fashioned Beatdown, Maleva, Valor Vengeance, All Hail the Yeti, Phantom Communique (American Voodoo Records, My Elysian, Katie Bergstrom, The Dog House, and TNBK (Century Media Records). Throughout this time he also focused on teaching students creating a fun, creative, and productive environment. His drum practice is rooted in body awareness and focus. Drew taught me a few patterns that he played along with me, he even wrote them out for me so i can practice at home. We went over note values and did some repetitions on both sides leading up to playing an essential rock groove at the end. I played the groove correctly a few times! It was really rewarding. His teaching approach is empowering, and I was able to relax and do my best : Name: Drew Koltun Date: 2020-03-16 20:21:25 Title: Janel B. Body: Working with Drew was an overall great experience. Drew is very attentive, patient and thorough. He was very encouraging and gave gentle reminders to stay relaxed, take deep breaths, not beat myself up when I made small mistakes, and to just groove and feel the music rather than overthink it. His lesson flowed perfectly and I must say that my over all favorite part of the lesson was drumming along side Drew and watching his expertise and light shine! I would happily recommend Drew to anyone serious about learning to play and love the drums! Name: Drew Koltun Date: 2020-03-16 20:22:12 Title: Daniel L. Rose's Music Lessons (Guitar, Bass Guitar)
by Taylor Robinson Music
San Diego, CA
Years of Experience: 18 years Location Options: In Home Travel Radius: 5 Genres: Rock Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons Overview: Born and raised in the Philippines, Rose, picked up the guitar at age 12 and even though playing keyboard was her first love, the guitar was where she found her passion. Self-taught, she has accumulated various influences ranging from Filipino alternative rock, to NWOBHM, to Blackened-Death Metal. Currently living in Orange County, California, Rose keeps busy working as a licensed nurse by day and by night as a guitarist of Infinite Death (Whittier, CA) and Cowgirls From Hell (All-Female-Pantera-Tribute band from San Diego, CA). October 2012 was when she joined Infinite Death to complete a melodic-two-guitar-attack from what used to be an instrumental trio of guitar-bass-drums. Josh Palomar, guitarist/songwriter of the band, persuaded her to give EMGs a try and upon installing EMG 81 on the bridge of her Jackson RR3, the guitar-duo found their sound at last. Heavily influenced by the Swedish-melodic-death-metal sound, the band was recognized as one of OC Weekly’s 10 Best Underground Metal Bands of 2014 and “continues to showcase haunting live shows” (OC Weekly). Infinite Death has released a demo “Smoked To Death” (2012) and their debut EP “Beyond The Gates” (2013). They are on the cusp of releasing their next EP entitled “The Endless Suffering” out early 2016.
