In Drawing/Painting Class we will create a variety of fine art projects focusing on technique and style, composition, brushwork, and systematic practice. KVArteest will give input on our subject matter, as we together decide what we want to learn.

PreK, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program Overview Unlocking Creativity Through Core Art Foundations Our Pre-K, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program is designed to foster creativity and build essential skills through a sequential and cyclical curriculum. By progressively exploring the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, students not only learn art techniques but also develop a deep appreciation for art history. Here's what our young artists will explore: Foundational Concepts: Dive into the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create visually compelling pieces. Drawing Skills: From observational and perspective drawing to life and figure sketches, students refine their ability to represent the world around them. Students will explore a diverse range of dry media, including graphite, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, and ink. Composition and Color: Learn the intricate concepts of 2D composition and color theory to enhance artistic expression. Painting Techniques: Experiment with various media such as acrylics, watercolors, and tempera, learning manipulation techniques that bring ideas to life. Art History: Travel through time exploring influential artists, both historical and contemporary, to understand their impact on the art world and society. Class Experience This ongoing class seamlessly extends our Pre-K, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program, continuing from summer into the school year and cycling back each season. It provides a consistent, year-round art education journey for students. Jump in anytime! Class Requirements Age Requirement: Artists must be at least 4 years old to enroll in PreK-1st classes. Bathroom Independence: Children must be fully independent in using the bathroom to attend classes without adult supervision. If a child requires assistance in the bathroom, a parent or guardian must be present during the class.

DRAGONS & UNICORNS Join us for a camp of art that is a little magical, a lot of hands on sculpting, and a ton of creativity! At this camp your child will create a magnet or pendant to look like the eye of a dragon. Sculptures will be made using polymer clay which is baked and cooled and then painted all at camp. Rebel Art Summer Camps are full of exploration, creative excitement, and just plain fun! Much like our teen school year classes, we will offer the flexibility of having planned projects for those who don't necessarily have a clear idea of what to create, as well as more of an open studio for those who are ready to dive into all those projects in their heads (with the guidance of our teachers). We offer everything from drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking to sculpture. Please note that due to time constraints, we do not offer ceramics in this program during summer camps (please check out our Rebel Ceramics program if interested in working with ceramics). We break up the week by hosting camp in different locations. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are hosted at the studio at 1444 South Main st., and Tuesdays/Thursdays we meet at local parks. This unique opportunity is only offered during summer camps and is incredibly special as it allows campers to experience working in plein air (from life outside) as well as in the studio for a complete art experience. Please note that we keep a close watch on the weather and air quality and will relocate to the studio if it will be too hot or poor air.

Spring Semester (Mid March-May) Bring art into your homeschool curriculum without the mess at home! Homeschool students work on different art techniques and creativity through drawing, painting, and sculpting. Art camp is taught by certified teachers, so your child will be having fun while being creative and learning (yes, we sneak it in painlessly) in a safe environment run by individuals who have been trained to work with children and have a Master's degree in education. Ms. Kampson is a tenured art teacher in North Babylon School District, Ms. Katelyn is a certified art teacher at Bayshore High school, and Ms. Riesa is the owner of Key to My Art - a NYS certified teacher and licensed art therapist! Camp will last 2 hours. Your child may bring a light snack and a water bottle. Try to avoid sending your child with any food that contains peanuts - but if you do, please notify the instructor. Book 10 or more days and save 10%, making 2 hours just $40 (less than a babysitter!) Monday - Mixed Media (mixture of different supplies - collages, drawing/painting, glue, scissors, oil pastels, etc) Tuesday - Anything Goes! (Surprise media - may be anything from crafty projects to canvas painting.) Wednesday - Drawing (pencils, crayons, markers, pastels, etc) Thursday - Painting (watercolor, acrylic, etc) Please make sure you read through all of our agreements before checking out.
