At this camp your child will create a magnet or pendant to look like the eye of a dragon. Sculptures will be made using polymer clay which is baked and cooled and then painted all at camp. Rebel Art Summer Camps are full of exploration, creative excitement, and just plain fun! Much like our teen school year classes, we will offer the flexibility of having planned projects for those who don't necessarily have a clear idea of what to create, as well as more of an open studio for those who are ready to dive into all those projects in their heads (with the guidance of our teachers). We offer everything from drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking to sculpture. Please note that due to time constraints, we do not offer ceramics in this program during summer camps (please check out our Rebel Ceramics program if interested in working with ceramics). We break up the week by hosting camp in different locations. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are hosted at the studio at 1444 South Main st., and Tuesdays/Thursdays we meet at local parks. This unique opportunity is only offered during summer camps and is incredibly special as it allows campers to experience working in plein air (from life outside) as well as in the studio for a complete art experience. Please note that we keep a close watch on the weather and air quality and will relocate to the studio if it will be too hot or poor air.

PreK, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program Overview Unlocking Creativity Through Core Art Foundations Our Pre-K, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program is designed to foster creativity and build essential skills through a sequential and cyclical curriculum. By progressively exploring the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, students not only learn art techniques but also develop a deep appreciation for art history. Class Experience This ongoing class seamlessly extends our Pre-K, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program, continuing from summer into the school year and cycling back each season. Bathroom Independence: Children must be fully independent in using the bathroom to attend classes without adult supervision. Weekly Schedule Each week combines traditional camp activities with specialized Lando classes. Campers attend two Lando sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (each class offered twice weekly), with Wednesdays reserved for exciting field trips. Field Trips: 1st-3rd Grade - Gilroy Gardens, Gilroy 4th-5th Grade - Great America, Santa Clara Campers will experience Four Award-Winning Lando Classes: Summer LEGO® Robotics Lab – Build a new robot daily using LEGO® bricks, motors, and sensors. Tackle the Kickoff Challenge, then upgrade during Engineering Sprints. Explore gears, pulleys, and measurable goals like distance and lift. Budding artists capturing multiple objects tend to begin with the largest or most attractive one first, finish it, and move on to the next. By studying multiple object composition, line and air perspective, as well as color mixing, students learn to depict multiple three-dimensional objects and build a solid foundation for future artistic study. Our academic method of teaching will open the eyes and minds of aspiring artists to see the myriad of colors and tones in everyday objects. With these foundational skills, students will learn techniques to express their creativity. Classes alternate between Drawing and Painting on a weekly basis. All skill levels welcome. Students will learn to draw and paint multiple objects as a group taking into account proportions, depth, structures, along with light and shadows. Using acrylic or oil, students will flex these core principles of composition to attain the freedom to draw and paint three-dimensional still-life, landscapes and fictional paintings. Procuring painting and drawing materials are the responsibility of each student, but we are of course happy to advise which ones we think are best.

Now available every Saturday! Kids can come in and work on their own projects or take advantage of our experienced instructors and learn something new. Students may also take on ambitious, ongoing projects if they would like. Studio Time can be used to develop new skills or strengthen current skills. All of our studio resources will be available to students during this time. Parents may drop-in last minute if they would like, buy a class-pack to use anytime during the fall semester, or register in advance. Students may choose to do ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, animation, collage, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, screen printing, or anything else we have the resources to do. Summer Semester (May-August) "Every child is an artist"-Pablo Picasso. This class provides classical instruction and skill building in art from a professional degreed artist. In this class your child will refine their fine motor skills as they learn to draw, paint, and sculpt, while also learning a little art history. Students produce a variety of projects with various mediums and subjects in order to learn different techniques and skills in creating art. Classes are limited in size, so sign your child up today!

The Middle School Art class at The Atelier School of Art is a one-hour session for ages 11-13, designed to help students refine their artistic skills while exploring different mediums and techniques. This class covers drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, with a focus on composition, perspective, shading, and color theory. Students are encouraged to develop their unique artistic voice while building a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary art practices.

This combination class offers children a sampling of art projects using various media such as painting, clay, watercolors, collage, and pastels. It is amazing what you can create when you explore with your imagination. A variety of materials are used to create your many masterpieces – Many projects are “built upon” each class, so that students experience a variety of mediums and take home several projects. Projects are new every session & seasonal, so sign-up for all sessions.

During this inspiring week of camp, we will be exploring the world of illustration. Campers will work with ink and pencil while learning foundational drawing techniques such as shading, line work, and composition. Students will be encouraged to develop their individual style and will practice turning their ideas into beautifully illustrated artworks. LET'S GOGH! Join us for an afternoon of art that is fun, hands on, and a blast of creativity! At this camp your child will get to learn about art, get their creative juices flowing, and have fun creating their own work of art. Using polymer clay campers will sculpt a miniature Van Gogh painting. While clay is baked and cooling they will get to paint a miniature version of a Van Gogh painting.
