In Drawing/Painting Class we will create a variety of fine art projects focusing on technique and style, composition, brushwork, and systematic practice. KVArteest will give input on our subject matter, as we together decide what we want to learn.

Class Description:
This teen art class is designed for teens who are ready to begin exploring their creative potential and how to start developing their own artistic voice. Students will be introduced to, and encouraged to explore, a variety of mediums—including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, and collage—while receiving personalized guidance from an experienced instructor. Whether they're interested in building their technical skills or discovering thier own unique style, this class offers the freedom to experiment and create at your own pace. New teen students will complete three pre-designed projects with their teacher's guidance to help aid them in learning how to set-up/clean-up supplies and materials, get a feel for what mediums are available, and allow teachers to get a feel for the student's level of skill and art knowledge. What They’ll Learn: Medium Exploration: Gain hands-on experience with a wide range of art forms, including pencil and charcoal drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, clay sculpture, printmaking, and collage techniques. Project Development: Learn how to conceptualize, plan, and execute your own independent projects. With teacher support, they’ll refine your ideas and bring them to life. Creative Techniques: Develop new skills in various artistic techniques, from layering and texture in mixed media to the technical aspects of ceramics and printmaking. Self-Expression: Find their own voice and style as they experiment with different materials and approaches to art-making. Critique & Feedback: Receive constructive feedback from the instructor and peers in a supportive and open environment to enhance their artistic process and growth. Who This Class Is For: Both new and continuing students. Teens ages 12-17 who are eager to create art more independently but want guidance, structure, and inspiration from a teacher. Students interested in experimenting with different art forms and techniques. Young artists who want to develop their skills and explore personal projects.

This combination class still offers students a sampling of art projects using various media such as clay, painting, watercolors, printmaking, collage, and pastels. Several projects are “built upon” each class, so that students experience a variety of mediums and take home several projects. Students encouraged to create their own designs by using new materials and mediums. New materials are introduced, and students are guided in how to interpret their project design. CREATING CHARACTERS Join us for art that is fun, hands on, and a blast of creativity! At this camp your child will create a miniature sculpture inspired by their favorite sanrio character using polymer clay which is baked and cooled and then painted all at camp! Their sculpture can be turned into a keychain or charm. Your child will come home with a completed work of art. It's art camp at Key to My Art!!! Each week is a new theme, each day is a new project! You can book flexibly to meet your scheduling needs! Art camp is taught by certified teachers, so your child will be having fun while being creative and learning (yes, we sneak it in painlessly) in a safe environment run by individuals who have been trained to work with children and have a Master's degree in education. Ms. Kampson is a tenured art teacher in North Babylon School District, Ms. Katelyn is a certified art teacher at Bayshore High school, and Ms. Riesa is the owner of Key to My Art - a NYS certified teacher and licensed art therapist! Camp will last 2 hours. Your child may bring a light snack and a water bottle. Try to avoid sending your child with any food that contains peanuts - but if you do, please notify the instructor. Book 10 or more days and save 10%, making 2 hours just $40 (less than a babysitter!) Monday - Mixed Media (mixture of different supplies - collages, drawing/painting, glue, scissors, oil pastels, etc) Tuesday - Anything Goes! (Surprise media - may be anything from crafty projects to canvas painting.) Wednesday - Drawing (pencils, crayons, markers, pastels, etc) Thursday - Painting (watercolor, acrylic, etc) Please make sure you read through all of our agreements before checking out. Learn step by step drawing skills used to create anime characters. This class takes a look at what makes a cartoon "anime," different methods, techniques, and all the formal elements you need to create your own anime art and characters. Through hands-on lessons, students will learn how to navigate the interface, use brushes and tools, and apply digital techniques to create original artworks. The course is designed to build a strong foundation for students interested in developing their digital art practice and a small class size means kids will get plenty of personalized instruction and one-on-one support. What to Bring to Class: iPad (9th generation or newer recommended for best performance) Apple Pencil Charger Because this program is offered on a limited basis, make-up classes are not available. The world of making your own clay creations! This class will teach you how to create several hand-built clay pieces. Students will be introduced to Kiln firing, and procedures, as well as stages of clay: Wet, Greenware, Bisqueware, and more. Through gesture, anatomy, and form studies, young artists learn to see the body from different perspectives and build the skills to create more natural, realistic figures. In some sessions, students will also have the exciting opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) model, gaining first-hand experience in observing the proportions and presence of an actual person. The class fee includes the cost of a vetted, guild-booked professional model. Some handouts may include artistic references of the unclothed figure for study purposes. All materials will be provided.
