Through hands-on lessons, students will learn essential tools, brushes, layers, and digital techniques while creating original artwork and building a strong foundation in digital illustration. Designed for students ages 9.5–12 who are new to digital art or have little formal class experience, Beginning Digital Art emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and core digital art skills. Small class sizes provide plenty of personalized instruction and one-on-one support. At the end of the session, students will receive a professionally printed item featuring one of their favorite digital creations. Drawing from the natural world, this theme invites campers to create artwork based on plants, animals, environments, and organic forms. Projects encourage observation through drawing, sculpture, and mixed media, and explore different ways artists study and respond to the world around them. The daily activity schedule includes four full hours of art-making and two hours for snacks, lunch, and other activities, fostering a fun and social camp experience. Parents provide both snack and lunch. Extended Care: Extended care is available during the following time periods: 8-9 am, 3-4 pm, and 4-5 pm at $65 per hour for five days per week or fewer. You may also customize your extended care schedule at $17 per hour or portion of an hour for one or more days. Coordinate your extended care needs with The Marvegos before attending and notify the teacher of your needs on the first day of camp. Waitlisting: If your preferred camp is full, we highly recommend adding your child to the waitlist. If spots become available, everyone on the waiting list is notified via email, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Avoiding Repeated Projects: Each themed week features the same projects throughout the week. If your child repeats the same themed week, they will work on the same projects twice. Through gesture, anatomy, and form studies, young artists learn to see the body from different perspectives and build the skills to create more natural, realistic figures. In some sessions, students will also have the exciting opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) model, gaining first-hand experience in observing the proportions and presence of an actual person. The class fee includes the cost of a vetted, guild-booked professional model. Some handouts may include artistic references of the unclothed figure for study purposes. All materials will be provided.

For the strongest foundation and best experience, we recommend taking Life Drawing: Structure & Anatomy first. In some sessions, students will also have the opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) professional model, gaining valuable experience observing real posture, proportion, and fabric in motion.
