Girls Development Team is a female focused parkour group for ages 9-12, where girls interested in exploring parkour can build self-esteem, camaraderie, and physical strength in a welcoming and challenging environment. This class provides a safe, non-threatening environment specifically designed for girls and those more comfortable in a female centered environment. The Team meets twice a week on Mondays, 4:30-6:00, and Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30. On Mondays, the team will take a walk into downtown with Coach Austin and Amanda for a parkour adventure. Girls are, of course, welcome to join any of the Youth Classes we offer in addition to, or in lieu of this one. All children who would feel more supported in a girls-centered class are welcome. Parkour is a training discipline focused on how to use your challenges to grow physically, mentally, and socially. Practitioners aim to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most creative way possible. Parkour includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement (crawling) and other movements as deemed most suitable for the situation and challenge. From local show outings and table reads to karaoke/master class nights, character-themed events, and interactive drama games, there’s something for everyone—whether you love being on stage, behind the scenes, or just hanging out with fellow theatre fans. Piglet's Playgroup is a weekly session for children ages 1 - 4 and caregivers to nuture their creative relationships. Through meaningful, sensory rich experiences including dry and messy sensory play, playdough provocations and collage tables, and paint exploration stations we will play and learn together, picking up powerful skills like problem solving and making friends. We believe in child-led learning. There is so much power (and joy) that follows when you provide your child with the space and tools to discover themselves through sensory rich, meaningful exploration. This is a single session per week version of the Junior Team. This class has six slots and is best for those looking for the extra challenge of the Junior Team curriculum but are unable to commit to twice a week. These six students will join the twelve members of the Junior Team and train together with Coach Austin and Jakelynn! Playformance Parkour classes feature a non-competitive discipline of movement focused on play and creativity that teaches kids how to overcome any obstacle with a playful mindset. Our students will learn to seek out challenges that will test them physically and mentally. Through facing these challenges, they build a solid fitness foundation of strength, flexibility, balance, control, creativity, and discipline.
