You don't have to be a pro to create beautiful art! All it takes is some practice, patience, and inspiration to create something magnificent. For my age 10+ KVArteests, we work in oil paints on projects each artist chooses with my input. This is a class for those with enough art experience or can-do attitude to work largely independently.

In Drawing/Painting Class we will create a variety of fine art projects focusing on technique and style, composition, brushwork, and systematic practice. KVArteest will give input on our subject matter, as we together decide what we want to learn.

Fall Semester Session One (August-October) Exercise the imagination at the Art House. This class is designed for kindergarten through 2nd grade aged children to help them learn and develop fine motor skills through creating art! Your child will practice using scissors, holding a pencil and paint brush, and much more through drawing, painting, and sculpting. Students produce a variety of projects with various mediums and subjects in order to learn different techniques and skills in creating art. Classes are limited in sizes so sign your child up today!

Students focus on perspective, foreshortening, and how fabric drapes and folds over the body. Through observational studies, artists learn to create figures that feel dimensional and dynamic. For the strongest foundation and best experience, we recommend taking Life Drawing: Structure & Anatomy first. In some sessions, students will also have the opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) professional model, gaining valuable experience observing real posture, proportion, and fabric in motion. The class fee includes the cost of a vetted, guild-booked model. Some handouts may include artistic references of the unclothed figure for study purposes. All materials will be provided.

Each session we will focus on a new artist and medium , creating amazing works throughout the 4 weeks. This is an introduction to artistic forms and skill-building within many mediums, creating frame worthy fun projects throughout the year. Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

It builds on foundational techniques while offering more opportunities for independent decision-making. Prior completion of Fine Art Fundamentals isn’t required, but familiarity with basic art concepts is recommended. All students new to Expanded Fundamentals will receive a notification to sign up for a one-time, prerequisite Online Form Class, which must be completed by the third week. This class teaches students about form, values and composition. If your child has already completed this class as part of Fine Art Fundamentals, they do not need to take it again.
