Loving, Caring And Responsible Sitter

(3)
Hello, my name is Alysha. I am a sophomore college student at The Catholic University of America. I am a sociology major with a minor in psychology. I am looking to help a family with my loving and nurturing skills. My experience with children spans over volunteering for homeless shelters, and local school, as well as with Honey Shine Incorporated. I have worked as a summer camp counselor and have experience with varying age levels. I was a Girl Scout for eight years, where I learned CPR, First Aid, and pertinent life skills. I am the eldest child of a large family, and have been an active part of my sibling's lives as a role model. I have gained leadership skills in both my home life, and well as out in the local environment. I believe the best way for me to help the community is by helping at the most important level, the home. I currently live in Washington D. C. for school, and will be available for positions in the Miami Shores area on May 11th, 2015 for the summer. I am native English speaker and have studied Spanish for the past 5 years. I am an avid animal lover; cats and dogs hold a firm hug around my heart. I have experience with furry friends and their well-being. Pets are an important part of a child's and family's' lifestyle in creating leadership skills as well as responsibilities. I am a fun and outgoing person. I enjoying creating adventures and leading a happy lifestyle. A general day for your child would consist of catering to your child's likes and dislikes. I enjoy arts and crafts, and taking advantage of the outdoors. If you find my profile perfect for you and your family, please message me so that we can start to form our business relationship.

We provide quality care for children ages 3 months until kindergarten.

Our center offers warm, friendly, professionally-organized, unique child care in the heart of the nation's capital, just steps from Union Station in Washington, D.C. We strive to create a loving community of children, parents, teachers, and friends.

Our staff include talented, highly trained, and academically credentialed teachers who nurture and facilitate integrated learning, following a child's own rhythms. Our responsive teachers understand that children are learning all the time through active and purposeful involvement with people, materials, and ideas.

We use the Creative Curriculum, a play-orientated, child-initiated approach. The Creative Curriculum fosters a dynamic environment to satisfy the young child's natural sense of wonder, sociability, eagerness to explore and problem solve, enthusiasm for quality literature, and aptitude to learn through play.

In addition to classroom experiences, children play on our large, private outdoor playground, go on neighborhood walks, and have the option to take field trips to exciting destinations. We also offer enrichment programs in Spanish, music, and gymnastics.

We see parents and teachers as partners, and value close, regular, and open communication. Our environment respects individuality and differences. We have an open door policy, and parents are welcome to visit anytime.

Fees are for two weeks of care.

Our program provides care and developmental stimulation through play-based academic growth opportunities for young children, ages 2-5 years old, in a small, home-like setting located in the beautiful Brookland/Catholic University neighborhood.

The curriculum is child-initiated which provides opportunities that support and enrich their development, learning and growing independence. The classroom is designed with various centers that include: blocks, dramatic play, art, music/movement, computers, a library, etc. Every aspect of the curriculum is infused with the literary arts which provides the children with the early basic reading skills necessary for a successful transition into elementary school. It is the goal of this program to ensure that every child is a reader before leaving Amazing Grace.

Each program component includes a balance of child and teacher activities designed to actively engage children in learning throughout the day and to promote their creative expression. Assessment is an integral part of curriculum planning. Monitoring and documentation of children's participation within the learning environment is on-going. Children's interests, strengths and needs are used to shape curricular decisions.

Nutritious meals (breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack) are included daily as well as regular outdoor activities in our on-site playground and yard.
